čakkara (Tdbh.; ശര്‍ക്കര) Jaggory, palm-sugar. ച'ക്ക് അകവും പുറവും ഒക്കും, ആനെ ക്കു ച. പന prov. (ആനച്ചക്കര a creeper eaten by elephants). Hence: ചക്കരക്കത്തിക്കാരന്‍ see കത്തി. ചക്കരക്കള്ളു toddy for making sugar (called ചക്കരക്കട്ടി). ചക്കരക്കള്ളന്‍ a red ant. ചക്കരപ്പാവു B. raw sugar, syrup; the inspissated palmyra-juice. Palg. ചക്കരപ്പൊട്ടിക്ക = ഞെട്ടാഞെടുങ്ങു.

čār̀uγa (Te. C. ജാറു to slip, trip, T. to sweep) V1. To run off or out; to drizzle (fr. ചറു). ചാറന്‍ loc. hankering after women (ജാരന്‍). ചാറല്‍ (T. ചാരല്‍) drizzling rain; also മഴ ചാററല്‍, ചാററുമഴ (& പാററല്‍). ചാറു T. M. (C. സാ —, Te. ചേരു, C. Te. എ സരു). 1. sap of a palm-tree etc.; ചാറു ഊ ററുക No. slavering of children. 2. broth, soup. നല്ല ചാറും ചോറും കണ്ടില്ല (of pepper-water & curry eaten hot). 3. infusion, decoction. ഇഞ്ചിച്ചാ. ginger-tea, പുളിഞ്ചാറു, മു ളഞ്ചാറു or മുളകുചാറു etc. കുങ്കുമപ്പൂച്ചാററില്‍ VetC., കുങ്കുമച്ചാറു തന്‍ നന്മണം, മാലേയ ച്ചാറൂറും CG. — ചാറെറണ്ണക്കു മരുന്നു a med. ചാറുപെടുക V1. juice to run out. — ചാര്‍പ്പെ ടുക്ക to squeeze; met. to trouble one. ചാററുക 1. to drizzle V1. (see ചാറല്‍). 2. to speak loud (T.), to call on Gods & sing as astrologers B. 3. T. Palg. കുററം ചാ.. to declare guilty; to impute a fault to. I.

1. The metal ring at either extremity of a pestle, etc. 2. an ornament for the upper part of the ear. കാതിലിടുന്ന പൊന്‍ ചി. വെള്ളി ചി. കള്‍ ഇട്ടു MR. ചി. ചുറെക്ക q. v. ചിററുകാതു the hole in which it is worn. I.

čarava-kūrụ N. pr. A Brahmanical section, also ചരവുകൂററില്‍ KU. is it the same as ചോവരം ? (certainly distinct from പന്നിയൂര്‍) Acc. to some it is a Tdbh. of ശരഭം.

čeḍa Tdbh., ജട in ചെ ടവക്കു Hemp; ചെടയന്‍ wearing long clotted hair (ചെഞ്ചെട).

čuvadụ T. M. 1. Footmark, vestige (= അടി). ചു. നോക്കി (or പിടിച്ചു) നടന്നു followed the trace. തന്നുടെ കാല്‍ചു കാണായ്വന്നു. CG. 2. foot, base. ചുവടുറപ്പു foundation, firmness. ചു വട്ടടി sole of the foot, അടി രണ്ടും വാരി ചുവട്ടി ലാക്കി Bhr. felled him. വൃക്ഷത്തിന്‍റെ ചുവട്ടില്‍ മരുവും AR. under the tree. കാലിന്‍ ചുവട്ടില്‍ ആക്കി Mud, under. ചോടേയും മേലേയും വീണു TP. (= കീഴ്മേല്‍). തണ്ടെല്ലിന്‍റെ ചുവട്ടില്‍ MM. ചു. പിടിക്ക to take root, grow rich. 3. step പ ന്നിച്ചു. പഠിക്ക, കള്ളച്ചു. വെച്ചു TP.; measure of dancers മൂന്നാം ചുവട്ടില്‍ കളിക്ക a sham fight of warriors. (see ചോടു). ചുവട്ടുക V1. to track, search after. ചുവട്ടേത്തരം No. (vu. ചോട്ടുതരം) കിളെക്ക to give the mud-wall of a garden a finish by covering it with 1' of fine earth & beating it well to make a smooth surface. čuḷukkụ T. M. C. Te. (കി — & ചി, സു —) 1. Sprain, wrench, cramp. 2. frown, impatience V1.; also ചുളുക്കം So., ചുളുക്കന്‍ V1. hasty. ചുളങ്ങുക to shrink, wrinkle, to be distorted മുഖം ചു. VyM. ആപത്തില്‍ ചു. ഇല്ല undaunted, So. ചുളുക്കുക, ക്കി to distort, wrench.

čor̀i T. M. 1. Itch, scab & other eruptions തലച്ചോറി = പുഴുക്കടി scurf, വറട്ടു ചൊ റി etc., ചൊറിക്കറിവില്ല prov. 2. what itches, nettles (= ചൊറിവു). ചൊ. പറക to find fault. എന്തിരുപതു — മുറിമുപ്പ തു — അറിനാല്പതു — ചൊറിഅറുപതു Cal. — Pa1g. = ഏടാകൂടം.
