čakkụ (Tdbh.; ചക്രം) 1. Oilpress, (ചക്കു കണ the roller of it, ചക്കുകൊക്കു a wood on the top of the pestle, ചക്കുരല്‍ the mortar); sugar-mill etc. ചക്കിന്‍റെ മുരട്ടു കുട്ടന്‍റെ ചേല്‍ prov. ചക്കിലിട്ടമര്‍ത്തീടും എള്ളുപോലെ Brhmd. ചക്കില കപ്പെട്ടൊരിക്ഷു പോലെ ഞെരിക്ക CG. Kinds: നാട്ടുചക്കു, കൊങ്ങന്‍ചക്കു MR. 2. measure of oil-fruits ഒരു ചക്ക് എള്ളു etc. Hence: ചക്കാട്ടുക to work an oilpress. VN. ചക്കാട്ടു — ട്ടം the pressing of oil, etc. ചക്കാന്‍ m.— ാത്തി f. oilpresser, So. ചക്കാല the shed of an oilpress. ചക്കാലവാണി യന്‍& ചക്കോന്‍ KN. the caste of oil-makers, also ചക്കുകാരന്‍ MR. ചക്കില്ലാത്ത വാണി യന്‍ KN. an oil-seller. ചക്കുതോക്കു a mortar TR.— ചക്കുണ്ട a bomb, hence: ചക്കുവെടി bombarding. ചക്കുപാര an instrument for taking oilcake out of the press. ചക്കുപുര = ചക്കാല, also ചക്കിനമൂടു.

čaryam S. To be observed (I. ചരിക്ക). ദിനചര്യ, ഋതുചര്യ the observance of a day, a season etc.

čākšušam S. (ചക്ഷു) Ocular. ചാക്ഷുഷി എന്ന വിദ്യാദാനം ചെയ്തു Bhr. the art of seeing all. ചാച്ചല്‍ see ചായുക.

čīvaδa Trav. (Tdbh. of ശിവിക; see ചീയാന്‍, ചിയ്യാന്‍) A litter carried by 2 men on their shoulders to parade idols, which ought not to be carried on elephants; also ചീവതത്തണ്ട്.

Palg. = സ്വര്‍ണ്ണാരിയന്‍ A kind of rice.

čāṇaγam T. M. & ചാണം (C. സ ഗണി,, S. ഛഗണം fr. ശകൃല്‍) Cowdung used for manure (വളം) & for തളി (ചാണോക്കലം TP.) ചാണക കുന്തി സമ്മന്തി prov. also ആട്ടി ന്‍റെ ചാ. Nid. ചാ. തേക്കു to cowdung, തളിക്ക to sprinkle the floor. ചാണകവറളി, — വരടി dried cowdung.

čēl, VN. of ചെല്ലു (Te. C. Tu. ചാല്‍), also = ചെയല്‍ T. aM. 1. Walk, behaviour. ചേലും ചട്ടവും character. കുട്ടി അഛ്ശന്‍റെ ചേല്‍തന്നേ disposition, (takes after); മാലുറും ചേല്‍ ഉന്മത്തന്‍ RC. the mischievous U. മുഖം നോക്കുന്പോള്‍ ഒരു വല്ലാത്ത ചേലായി കാണു ന്നായിരുന്നു (jud.). 2. a fine level, neat or uniform appearance ചേല്ക്കണ്ണിമാര്‍ AR., നല്‍ച്ചേ ലും കണ്ണിമാര്‍ CG., ചേല്ക്കണ്ണാര്‍ (& ചൊല്ക്ക ണ്ണാര്‍) Bhr. fine-eyed women. ചേലോടു nicely. ചേലൊത്തു നിന്നുള്ള നീലത്തഴകള്‍ CG. well arrayed. ചേലാക്കുക to get ready, ഉറുപ്പിക കെട്ടി ചേ' ക്കി കൊടുത്തയച്ചു; to prepare, level നില ത്തില്‍ വിത്തിടുവാന്‍ ഉഴുതു ചേ'ക്കി TR. പ ണി ചേലാക്കി gave it a finish.
