tumbi T. M. C. Tu. (Te. തുമ്മദ). A black beetle, flying at night. പൊന്നാന്തു. a cushlady. ആനത്തുന്പി loc. a large kind of dragon-fly. തു. പറക്കുംപ്രകാരം Bhr.; (a butter-fly MC.); തു. തുളെച്ച മുള a bamboo pierced by it & sounding like an Ӕolian harp, (തു. ത്തുള). Hence: തുന്പിക്കൈ T. M. C. (po. തുന്പിക്കരം ത ന്നേ തലോടി CG.) an elephant's trunk, lit. 'the sneezing hand'. തു. യോടുളവായ പൈതല്‍ Anj. Gaṇapati. തു. ചുരുട്ടും MC. (in running). തുന്പിത്താന്‍ V1. 2. & തുന്പിത്താരം B. a long trumpet, (see താര) = ൦രംററക്കുഴല്‍. തുന്പിപ്പച്ച a kind of Centaurium, which produces sneezing.

tamassụ S. (തമ്) 1. Darkness. നിശി തമസി VetC. a hell. 2. the 3rd quality, delusion നിദ്രയും ആലസ്യവും തന്ദ്രിയും പ്രമാദ വും ഭീതിയും അജ്ഞാനവും ഖിന്നവും വിഷാദവും താമസഗുണം VCh. = തമോഗുണം.

tōṭṭi T. M. (C. Te. Tu. ദോട്ടി, S. തോത്രം orതോണ്ടുക) 1. The hook for driving an elephant. ഭദ്രകാളിക്കു തോട്ടി വെപ്പിച്ച് ആനയെ ഇരുത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം SG. (a vow). 2. a hook for plucking fruit തോട്ടികൊണ്ടു തോണ്ടിപ്പറിക്ക. — a long pole, dart; a fencing foil. 3. (C. tōṭi) a sweeper, fem. തോട്ടിച്ചി, lowest servant (C. Te. Tu. തോടുക to remove dirt with a shovel). തോട്ടുക V1. to pluck fruit with a തോട്ടി, (തോ ണ്ടുക).

ter̀i T. M. Snappish, dashing, clashing. തെ. കാട്ടുക TP. to behave insolently, തെ. വാക്കു offensive, mischievous, indecent words V1., No. chiefly to abuse in anger, (diff. fr. ചൊറിവാക്കു). തെറിക്ക T. M. 1. v. n. to rebound, reooil, fly in pieces ശൃംഗങ്ങള്‍ പൊട്ടിത്തെറിക്ക Nal., (from heat etc.) TP., so പാത്രം (over the fire). to fly out, as sparks. തെററിത്തെറിച്ചുപോയി he lost himself altogether. ഒരു തുള്ളി തെറി ച്ചിതു ദേഹത്തിന്മേല്‍ Mud. 2. to splash, sputter ചേററില്‍ അടിച്ചാല്‍ നീളത്തെറിക്കും prov.; തൂവുകകൊണ്ടു നീര്‍ തെ. 3. v. a. to make to fly off ചക്രം എറിഞ്ഞു കഴുത്തു തെ. Bhr. തല തെ. V1. to cut off the head. വെ ട്ടുകള്‍കൊണ്ടു തലകള്‍ തെറിക്കയും Mud. കി ന്നരം തെ. V1. to play the lute. CV. തെറിപ്പിക്ക to make to bounce or splash, to cut off with one stroke, ശിരസ്സുകള്‍ വെട്ടി ത്തെറിപ്പിച്ചീടുവന്‍ KR. അവിടേനിന്നു തെ' ച്ചു got him dismissed. കൈ തെ'ച്ചു പാഞ്ഞു TR. escaped from their hands. മുണ്ടില്‍ ചോ ര തെ. TP. തെറിയന്‍an insolent, indecent person.
