kāvụ (T. കാ. fr. കാക്കുക) 1. Hence: കാവടി 5.(T. also കാവുത്തടി) = കാവു 5., esp. a more or less adorned pole of a peculiar description with offerings dedicated to Subrahmanya f. i. കോഴി—, പാല്‍—, മീന്‍കാവടി; also religious mendicant's pole taken from house to house. കാവടിക്കാരന്‍ Cowri cooly; men that bring contributions to temple feasts (So. കാവ ണ്ടം loc.) കാവുക, വി T. M. to carry on a pole, also കാ വിക്ക, കാവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോക; hence കാ വുന്ന കൂട്ടര്‍ = കാവടിക്കാര്‍ കാവിതി (T. servant = വിധി കാക്കുന്നവന്‍) also കാവതി, കാവുതിയന്‍ barber, esp. of Tīyar. f. കാവതിച്ചി TR. — ശൂദ്രകാവ്യതി higher class (40 in Taḷiparambu), വളിഞ്ചിയന്‍ (275 in Taḷip.), തീയക്കാവതി (121 in Taḷip.), തച്ച ക്കാവുതി (13 in Taḷip.), നാവുതിയന്‍ (500 in Taḷip.).
