കാവു : kāvụ (T. കാ. fr. കാക്കുക) 1. Inclosure, garden. പൂങ്കാവു, grove പൂമരക്കാവു f. i. കണ്ട കാവുകള് തോറും Bhr. 2. inferior fane, holy enclosure അയ്യപ്പന് പല കാവുകളില് അധിവ സിച്ചു (huntg.), അടിയാരെ കൂട്ടി ഇളന്നീര് കാ വു കെട്ടിക്ക TP. temporary fane. കാവൂട്ടു കാ ണ്മാന് പോയി TP. കാനത്തൂര് കാവില് ഊരാ യ്മക്കാര് TR. 3. M. to carry on a pole, also കാ വിക്ക, കാവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോക; hence കാ വുന്ന കൂട്ടര് = കാവടിക്കാര് കാവിതി (T. servant = വിധി കാക്കുന്നവന്) also കാവതി, കാവുതിയന് barber, esp. of Tīyar. f. കാവതിച്ചി TR. — ശൂദ്രകാവ്യതി higher class (40 in Taḷiparambu), വളിഞ്ചിയന് (275 in Taḷip.), തീയക്കാവതി (121 in Taḷip.), തച്ച ക്കാവുതി (13 in Taḷip.), നാവുതിയന് (500 in Taḷip.).
