(grief). ജനനിക്കു കണ്ണുനീര്‍ പൊട്ടി ഒഴുകി Nal. — fire crackling തീ പൊട്ടുന്നതു കേട്ടു, പാവ കന്‍ പൊട്ടി എരിഞ്ഞുപൊരിഞ്ഞു, തല പൊട്ടി ത്തെറിക്ക (of a burning corpse). ലോകം ചുട്ടു പൊട്ടും Bhr. 2. to burst, as a sore ശരീര ത്തില്‍ പൊട്ടി വീണു an eruption; to break, crack as eggs മുട്ട പൊട്ടിപ്പോകാതേ ഭരിക്ക Bhr. അടി കൊണ്ടു തല പൊട്ടി TR. പെണ്ണു കെട്ടി കണ്ണു പൊട്ടി prov. = നാശം വന്നു. 3. to put forth as buds മരം പൊട്ടി മുളെച്ചു, കൂന്പു പൊ. — പൊട്ടന്‍ bursting (see under പൊട്ടന്‍). പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചവന്‍ one who has lost all self-command, a reprobate. — അഞ്ചെട്ടു പൊ'ച്ച മാപ്പിളളമാര്‍ TR. mad chaps of rebels.
