vāδil (fr. വായില്‍, T. വാചല്‍, C. Tu. ബാഗല്‍, Te. വാകിലി see വായ്). 1. A door, gate, Loc. വാതില്ക്കല്‍ & വാതുക്കല്‍; തല വാ. the chief entrance (opp. ഇടവാ., കിളി വാ), see പടിവാ. — fig. തികഞ്ഞു കുന്നിന്നുവാ തില്‍ ൧൮ (huntg.); ഒന്പതു വാ'ലുള്ളന്പലം ത ന്നില്‍ പുക്കു വസിച്ചു CG. God lives in the body with നവദ്വാരം = വാ. ഇട്ടു=അടെച്ചു jud. 2. a bat, or = പാറാടന്‍ (loc), whence കടവാ തില്‍ (see വാവല്‍). വാതില്‍കാപ്പവന്‍ a door-keeper (ബാണവുമാ യി വാതില്‍ കാത്തു SG.) വാതില്‍പടി a door-sill, lintel V1. വാതില്‍പുറപ്പാടു കഴിക്ക Bhg 10. a ceremony after birth, purification of the mother. വാതില്‍മാടം a tower over the gate; an upstair house.
