kūri 1. A small sparrow (കുരികില്‍). 2. a med. plant, whose leaves serve as താളി. 3. ungrown fruit (കുരിക്കു), chiefly കൂരിത്തേങ്ങ; a fish, etc. കൂരിക്ക. ചെറുകൂരിക fork-tailed shrike. കൂരിയാററ, ഊര്‍കൂരിക weaver bird MC. കടല്ക്കൂരി MC. sturgeon.

kāršṇyam S. (കൃഷ്ണ) Blackness, കാര്‍ഷണ്യ സ്വരൂപന്‍ Nal.

kuṭhāram So. Axe = മഴു.

kūḍam S. 1.Horn, peak, roof ശരകൂടത്തെ ചെയ്തു Bhr. shot arrows enough to serve as roof, അവന്‍റെ മാടവും കൂടവും vu. stately dwelling. കൂടം വീണുപോയേടം KU. (= മാടം, royal income from permitting repairs of mansions). 2. heavy hammer കൂടങ്ങളും എന്തി RC. (or mountain tops?) കൊല്ലന്‍കൂടം MR. (is taxed). കൂടവും മുട്ടിയും എടുത്തു TR. 3. trap, cheat, illusion = മായ (phil.). 4. cause കൂടം എന്നിയേ KR.; root. കൂ. പറിച്ചു eradicated. Hence: കൂടയന്ത്രം a trap. കൂടസാക്ഷി = കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി. കൂടസ്ഥന്‍ 1. standing on the top, God. 2. (phil.) inhabiting മായ; the soul of the world. കൂടോപദ്രവം, vu. കൂടോത്രം Vl.2. sorcery. കൂ. ചെയ്ക to bewitch, ഒഴിക്ക to counteract charms.
