കൊങ്ങു : koṇṇụ (C. bent) T. M. 1. prob. Mountain declivity, N. pr. of the Chēra or Kēraḷa country, esp. the country about Coimbatoor (similar കുടകു). 2. Bauhinia variegata. Hence: കൊങ്ങന്‍ = ചേരന്‍ a M. കൊങ്ങന്‍ കോഴി = ജാതിക്കോഴി. കൊങ്ങാഴി (see കൊങ്ങാ), a measure of 2½ നെല്ലു. കൊങ്ങുചക്കു AR. a peculiar oil-mill (as about Coimbatoor). കൊങ്ങിയന്‍ N. pr. a caste (86 in Taḷiparamb/?/).
