T. M. (Te. Tu. C. ഗൊല, ഗൊന) √ കു ലു, what shakes. 1. Bunch, esp. of cocoanuts (ഒരു കുലത്തേങ്ങ മുറിച്ചു TP. തേങ്ങാക്കുല, അട ക്കക്കുല TR.) & plantains (കുലകൊത്തുക വാഴ തറിക്ക in war TR. കുലപഴുക്കുന്പോള്‍ സങ്ക്രാന്തി prov.); also of flowers, spatha (പൂക്കുല, കുല യല്ലി) കുലപൊട്ടുക spatha to burst; string of pearls മുത്തുക്കുലകള്‍ Bhr. etc. 2. noose of bowstring, end of bow or arrow (= കുത). കു ലയും കരേററി CC. drew the bow, = കുലെക്ക 3; also ചാപം കുലകൂട്ടാഞ്ഞതു ChVr. Hence: കുലക്കത്തി palm-cultivator's knife (= ഏ ററുകത്തി). കുലത്തേങ്ങാ, കുലമാങ്ങ, കുലവാഴ etc. fruit-clusters suspended in streets for the reception of Rājas etc. കുലെക്കടുത്തതു a cocoanut tree in its 8th year, promising first-fruits. കുലമറിയന്‍പയറു B. a kind of beans, in clusters. കുലയല്ലി palm-blossoms. കുലയേററുക to latch the bowstring, ചാപവും കു'ററി Bhr. വില്ലിനെ കു. ഉന്നതമാംവണ്ണം KR. കുലവില്ലു bow drawn, കു'ല്ലോടുപട തല്ലും ഭ്രൂലത Anj. കുലാഞ്ഞില്‍ So. = കുലച്ചില്‍ q. v. കുലയുക v. n. To jolt, shake, to be agitated as a branch under a monkey (see കുലുങ്ങുക & ഉ ലയുക), ഉടലം കുലയ അടിത്താന്‍ RC. വില്ല് ഒന്നു കുലഞ്ഞു CC., മനം കുലഞ്ഞീടും CG. (to trepidatc). VN. കുലവു hesitation, സ്തുതിച്ചിരിപ്പാന്‍ കുലവി ല്ലയാത്ത നെഞ്ചായേന്‍ Anj. കുലെക്ക v. a. 1. To bear fruit (see കുല), വാഴ കുലെച്ചു, ഊന്നു കുലെക്കുമോ prov. കുല ച്ചതു the 8th stage in the growth of a palm-tree, in full bearing. 2. to shake, bend what is elastic ഉറുമ്മി മുട്ടിന്മേല്‍ വെച്ചു കുലെച്ചു TP. tried the sword's temper. വാനേക്കുലെക്കും മഹോദരന്‍ RC., പടെക്കു കുലച്ചല്‍ വന്നു RC., ചിത്തം കുലെച്ചു മയക്കും CG. 3. to draw the bow; വില്ലു കുലെക്കായില്ല Bhr. could not latch the bowstring. = കുലയേററുക.

kadaṇṇāṇi (കട2. + കാണി) M. A large-meshed rope-net set between 2 boats to drive fish into a twine-net attached to it.

kulam S. (√ കിരണം ?) 1. Flock, as ക പികുലം. 2. family, race, tribe; in Mal. എ ഴുപത്തിരി കു. KU. 72 castes, tribes; ആര്‍ കുലം എന്നു പറയാഞ്ഞാര്‍ Pay. പണം കട്ടിന്മേല്‍ കു. കുപ്പയില്‍, കു. എളിയവനു മനം എളുതു, കുലമ ല്ലാത്തോന്‍ (person of no particular tribe, mean) prov. ഇല്ലവും കുലവും പറഞ്ഞു TP. alluded to our respective families, the most ticklish point (came to bitter words). 3. what is noble (= ജാതി). Hence: കുലഘ്നന്‍ m., — ഘ്നി f. destroyer of the family KR. കുലട 1. unfaithful wife, loose woman. 2. പാ ന്പിന്‍ കുലടകള്‍ കെട്ടി Mud. baskets (?) കുലതന്തു KR. continuer of family = വംശകര്‍ത്താ വാം പുത്രന്‍. കുലതുളസി best ocimum. കു. മാല Anj. കുലദൈവം chief god, or family-god, എന്‍ കു. വസുഷ്ഠന്‍ KR. കുലധര്‍മ്മം the peculiar law & duty of each caste. കുലപര്‍വ്വതങ്ങള്‍ Bhg 5. the 7 chief mountain chains, also inverted മഹാശൈലകുലങ്ങള്‍ ഏഴും CC. കുലപിഴുകി (vu. കുലപിശി) outcast. കുലമന്ത്രി Mud. minister of a dynasty, or prime-minister. കുലമലകള്‍ കുലുങ്ങി Bhr. (കുല II.) in കുലശിലയോടുംപൊരും ചില്ലി KR. കുലശേഖരന്‍ N. pr. 1. a Perumāḷ, famous as founder of the aristocracy KU. 2. title of the Travancore Rāja & of the 2nd Cōlattiri etc. KM. കുലശ്രേഷ്ഠന്‍ the best of the family, of good family. കുലസ്ത്രീ chaste woman, legitimate wife (opp. പരസ്ത്രീ), കു. മാര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തില്‍ മക്കത്തായം ഉണ്ടു Anach., കുലസ്ത്രീത്വം Si Pu. കുലഹീനന്‍ lowcaste, outcast. Anach. കുലാചാരം family customs, directed by the കു ലാചാര്യന്‍, കുലഗുരു. കുലാന്തകന്‍ = കുലകാലന്‍ f. i. വെടിന്തവര്‍ കു. RC. destroyer of the tribe of enemies.

kiḷi T. M. (C. Tu. Te. ഗിളി, ഗിണി.) 'chirping' C. 1. Parrot, Palæorpis. കിളി പ റയുംവണ്ണം prov. കിളിമാംസം ത്രിദോഷഘ്നം GP. പഞ്ചവര്‍ണ്ണക്കിളി = ശാരിക. 2. other birds തൊ പ്പിക്കിളി V2.; വെട്ടുക്കിളി locust. Hence: കിളിക്കത്തി scissors to cut betelnut V1., Palg. = അടക്കാകത്തി No. കിളിക്കൂടു a cage SiPu. കിളിപ്പാട്ടു a song as told by a parrot. കിളിമൂക്കു parrot's beak, Roman nose, an Ola book mark. കിളിവാതില്‍ a window. കിളിയോലത്തൈ or കിളി ഇട്ടതു, പിരിഞ്ഞതു 2nd stage of the cocoanut-palm, spreading its branches like wings, also കിളിയോല പാറിയതായി ൩ തൈ MR. കിളിയോല മു തിര്‍ന്നതു 3rd stage, when the branches rise above the pit (see കിഴി).
