taṇḍụ Tdbh., ദണ്ഡം (but also തടി, തട്ടു) 1. Hence: തണ്ടരഞാണം a gold or silver girdle. തണ്ടാടി (l) a large fishing net. തണ്ടാന് & തണ്ടയാന് (5) a headman of Tīyars or Chēgons, appointed by the Rāja to direct their marriages, funerals, feasts, f. ത ണ്ടാത്തി. Taṇḍansin Palg. & So. are the Tīyars of the coast (without inter-marriage). (=മുതുകെല്ലു). തണ്ടേററം (3) a ceremony, when a chieftain succeeds to the headship of the family. തണ്ടേല് see തണ്ടല്.
