pēṇuγa T.aM. (Te. penčcu). To foster, take care of ഐയം ഇരപ്പോര്‍ പേണിയകൂത്തു Pay. undertaken. പേണം V1. caution, പേണമായി carefully. denV. പേണിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി perhaps over-cautiously. CV. പേണിപ്പിക്ക Palg. f. i. വരന്പു = വണ്ണം വരുത്തുക, ഉടെച്ചു പൊതിയുക Palg.

pavanam S. (പൂ) Purification; wind. പവിത്രം S. 1. a sieve, strainer. 2. purifying, pure. 3. a ring made of sacrificial grass ദര്‍ഭ മോതിരം; hence പവിത്രവിരല്‍ the ring-finger പത്തു വിരല്ക്കു പവിത്രാംഗുലീയവും SiPu.

Bhr.; പഴുത്ത പഴം ripe fruit, കുല പഴുക്കുന്പോള്‍ സങ്ക്രാന്തി, പഴു ക്കാന്‍ മൂത്താല്‍ പറിക്ക prov.; പ. വെക്ക to put fruits in straw (= പഴുപ്പിക്ക). 2. to become well tempered, red-hot. പ. ച്ചുടുക to roast well, എരിയുന്ന തീയില്‍ പഴുത്ത നാരാചം KR. 3. to suppurate പുണ്‍ പഴുക്കില്‍ MM. 4. to decay. പഴുത്തില a dried leaf, ദേഹം പഴു ത്തു പോയീടും KR. = പഴകി. പഴുത്തില hon. for betel, when Nāyars speak to Brahmans, Tīyars to Nāyars, etc. (see 4).
