vāstu S. (വസ്). 1. Site of a building. 2. a new house വാ. ബലി കഴിക്ക Bhr. (vu. also before കൊടിയേററം at the beginning of a festival, or to get rid of any ഉപദ്രവം); വാ. പൂജ dedication on the day when the doors are set up. 3. (loc.) the God of the builders (ആ ശാരി), supposed to indicate the qualities of each site & direct the workmen; he sleeps on the ground, the head toward SW., the feet NE. [No. ബലി as കുററിപൂജ 274., or against any ഉരദ്രവം is offered to തച്ചുഗുളികന്‍]. വാസ്തുചീര, (S. വാസ്തുകം) Chenopodium album; also നാട്ടുചീ., പരിപ്പുചീ. വാസ്തോഷ്പതി S. genius of the house; Indra.

vāraṇam S. Referring to Varuṇa, a Purāṇa. Bhg.; = മന്ത്രഭേദം, അസ്ത്രഭേദം Sk. — West. വാരുണി S. spirituous liquor, വാ. ഫലങ്ങള്‍ Bhr. I.

vīδi 1. S. Going off. 2. Tdbh. (വീഥി) breadth, width ഒരു കോല്‍ വീ. യില്‍, നീളവും വീ. യും jud. (= അകലം). വാതില്‍ വീ. കൊള്ള ത്തുറന്നു RC. widely. വീ. യില്‍ വെക്ക to leave space. 3. a tree, Cordia Myxa, Rh.? വീതിഹോത്രന്‍ S. vaḷḷam T. M. (Tu. C. large corn-measure). 1. A canoe, boat of one trunk, in size between തോണി & മഞ്ചി; വള്ളക്കാരന്‍,— ത്തുടര്‍‍, — പ്പടി, — പ്പലക, — പ്പാട്ടു etc. — വ'ത്തടി B. timber roughly out in shape of a canoe. 2. = വല്ലം, a large bamboo basket holding 200 — 400 പറ of rice. 3. a small measure നരന്തച്ചാറു മൂവ., ഇരിവ. ഉപ്പു a. med. (S. weight of 2 or 3 കുന്നി).

vēr̀ụ T. M. Te. C. (Tu. bēte fr. വെറു). 1. Separation, difference ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വേറില്ല നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇരിവരും Bhr. (= ഭേദം) equally dear. 2. different, വേറൊരുത്തന്‍ another (gen. distinct from മറ്റു). വേറൊന്നായ്വന്നു മുഖങ്ങള്‍ എല്ലാം CG. altered, as by disappointment. വേറാക to be separated വേരോടു വേറായ ശാ ഖി CG. തങ്ങളില്‍ വേറാം Bhr. ദു:ഖം വേ റായി CG. vanished. വേറാക്കുക 1. to separate മാനസത്തില്‍നിന്നു ദോഷങ്ങളെ ChR. പാലു വേ'ക്കി ഭുജിക്കും Nal.
