(2; p. fut. pass.) to be taught, a pupil, disciple ശി'ന്മാര്‍ & ശിഷ്യകള്‍ KU., ശിഷ്യന്മാര്‍ f. pl. — ശിഷ്യത്വം discipleship. ശീ Tdbh. of ശ്രീ.

šōbha S. (ശുഭ്). Lustre, splendour, beauty ഉഷാ —, പ്രഭാതശോഭ V1. dawn, തിരുമൈ ശോഭയും Anj. ശോഭ കെതടും Bhg. ശോഭക്കേടു 1. want of splendour, disgrace. 2. = അശുഭം inauspiciousnessശോ.ഉണ്ടായ്വ രാ Sah. — (also ശോഭകേടു). ശോഭനം S. splendid. നിന്‍വാക്കുകള്‍ ശോ.ഏ ററവും Bhr. handsome, auspicious. ശോഭവാന്‍ S. id. (ആയ്നിന്ന കാര്‍വ്വര്‍ണ്ണന്‍ CG.). denV. ശോഭിക്ക S. to shine ഇവരാല്‍ ദിക്കുകള്‍ എല്ലാം ശോഭിച്ചീടും അര്‍ക്ക ചന്രന്മരക്കൊ ണ്ടംബരം എന്നപോലേ KR. — fig. ആ അ വസ്ഥ ശോ'ക്കാതേ കഴിവാന്‍ MR. lest it come to light. ഗോപുരധ്വജപ്രാസാദാല യങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു ശോഭിച്ചയമായം VilvP. resplendent. — part. ശോഭിതം shining, adorned. CV. ശോഭിപ്പിക്ക f. i. ഇതു നിന്‍െറ ശരീരത്തെ പരിശോഭിപ്പിക്കും KR. ശുഭം ജനിപ്പിച്ചുശോ' ക്കും Bhg 12. ശോമാരി (fr. T. ശോന്പേറി a sluggard). A lazy, idle fellow.

šani S. (ശനൈ fr. ശമ്). 1. Saturn, considered an unlucky planet (=തമസ്സു) & identified with അയ്യപ്പന്‍ or കരിയാത്തന്‍. 2. a month of Saturn equal to 30 months of the earth. ഏഴരശ്ശ. a dangerous time in astrol. കൊല്ലം ൧ഠഠ൬ ചിങ്ങശ്ശനി MR. Saturn being in Leo. കാട്ടുകാലിക്കുണ്ടോ (al. കാട്ടുകോഴിക്കു) ശനിയും സങ്ക്രാന്തിയും prov. ശനിദശ, ശനിപ്പിഴ inauspicious season thro' Saturn's influence സേതുവിങ്കല്‍ പോയാലും ശനിപ്പിഴ വിടാതു prov. ശനിപ്രദോഷമാഹാത്മ്യം N. pr. a treatise on the Saturday fasting, Si Pu. ശനിബാധ = ശനിപ്പിഴ. ശനിയന്‍ = തമോഗുണന്, ആകാത്തവന്‍‍. ശനിയാഴ്ച Saturday, ശനിവാരം. ശനിവലി cramps, convulsions (fr. സന്നി). ശനൈഃ S. slowly. — ശനൈശ്ചരന്‍ = ശനി.

šuǰi S. (II. ശുച്). 1. Purity മുങ്ങിക്കുളി ഒഴികേ മറെറാന്നും ശുചിക്കു പോരാ Anach. 2. pure ഇക്കുലം അതിശുചിയായതു KR. വിവ ര്‍ണ്ണവസ്ത്രം അഖിലം ശുചി Anach. denV. ശുചീകരിക്ക to purify. ശുചീന്ദ്രം N. pr. a temple in Trav. where Indra was freed from his loathsome curse (Such. Māh.)

šaṇṭha (ശഠ or C. ശണ = ചിനം). Quarrel. ശ. കൂടുക; എന്നെ വന്നു ശണ്ഠകള്‍ ഇട്ടു Bhg. fought. — തമ്മില്‍ ശ്ഠിച്ചിരിവരും രാജധാനി യില്‍ എത്തി PT. disputing.

šapham S. A hoof. ശഫായത്തു Ar. shafā'at, Intercession, നബി യിന്‍റെ ശ'ത്തില്‍ കൂടാന്‍ to trust in Muhammed.
