tiruḷ No. (= തിരള്‍; C. Tu. pulp, pith) 1. A bud, half grown leaf, still rolled up (തിര, തിരി). കാഞ്ഞിരത്തിന്‍ തി. ഒരു പിടി MM. 2. the uppermost leaf, തെങ്ങിന്‍റെ തി. കൊ ത്തി TR. തി. ഇളക്കിക്കിളിയോല പാറി ആന യടി വിരിഞ്ഞു (growth of a palm-tree).

toṇḍụ 1. T. So. A log of wood = തട്ട. 2. the fibrous husk of a cocoanut, the rind of a pomegranate, ചുരങ്ങത്തൊണ്ടു etc.; an empty cocoanut കഴന്പെടുത്താല്‍ തൊ.; തൊണ്ടും പേടും (തേങ്ങത്തൊണ്ടു). പോയെങ്കില്‍ ൧ഠഠഠ തൊണ്ടു prov. (So. തൊണ്ണന്‍) — a cup made of a cocoanut-shell. 3. So. a passage between two mud-walls. (=തോടു). തൊണ്ടെകല്പു N. pr. The northern boundary of Tuḷu, തൊ. പിടിച്ചു തോവാളക്കട്ടിളയോ ളം പരശുരാമന്‍റെ നാടു, തൊണ്ടെകല്പു പി ടിച്ചു കാഞ്ഞിരോട്ടു കടവോളം തുളുനാടു KU. (Gōkarṇa or a more southern promontory). തൊണ്ടിര (ഇരു) = ഇരെച്ചു കെട്ടിയ തൊണ്ടു No. a swimming apparatus.

paḍaruγa T. M. (പടു). A drum, പെരിന്പറ etc.; മാനസം പറ യെപ്പോലേ CG. sounding, but empty. 2. a circle, disk of the moon. 3. a rice measure of 8 or 10 Iḍangā/?/i, or 6 തൂണി & 4 നാഴി, ഒത്ത പ. MR. of 10 Id., also പാട്ടപ്പറ, മുദ്ര പ്പറ MR.; നെല്പറയും അരിപിപറയും വെച്ചു KU. in temples; നിറപറവെക്ക offering at a coronation etc. (gold-coins & other gifts). മുന്നൂറു പറക്കണ്ടം a field which requires 300 Par̀a of seed. 4. (= പറി) ചൂണ്ടല്‍പ്പറ a fishing- rod. 5. (= പറവ) bird. 6. what belongs to Par̀ayars. Hence. പറക്കാര a thistle (Genesis 3.) പറക്കള്ളി (7) a Par̀aya woman. പറക്കുടി (7) a Par̀aya hut, also പറമാടം. പറക്കുലം the Par̀aya tribe ബ്രാഹ്മണബാല ന്മാര്‍ ഉപനയം കഴിവോളം പ. Anach. പറക്കൊട്ട (3) a measuring basket. പറകെട്ടി Cymbidium aloifolinm (കാഞ്ഞിരപ്പ. an Epidendron on Strychnos; see under തുടി). പറച്ചുണ്ട a sensitive plant, Mimosa B. or Lycopodium. പറച്ചെറുമന്‍ m., — മി f. Cal. — Palg. a Malayāḷam Par̀ayan, also called ചന്പുതിന്നിപ്പ. So., പൈതിന്നിപ്പ. Cal., പുഴുതിന്നിപ്പറയന്‍ No. see പറയന്‍. പറച്ചേരി a Par̀ayar village. പറജാതി (6) birds. പറയന്‍ m., പറയി f. (of T. Pariahs പറച്ചി) a caste of drum-beaters, living by making mats, baskets, besides witchcraft, etc. പറ യന്‍ ൭൨ അടിതിരിയേണം KN. Their tribes (പന്തിരുകുലം) esp. പറയന്‍, പെരുന്പ., മൂത്തരവപ്പ. mī (& മികു, മിചു, mid etc.) 5. To be high, above, see മീതു. മീച്ചം B. ability, strength; (മീര്‍ച്ച V1. valor). മീടു No. (T. മുകടു top) the face മീടു താറിയതു TP. തന്‍റെ മീടാകാഞ്ഞിട്ട് ആരാന്‍റെ ക ണ്ണാടി പൊളിക്ക, കണ്ണും മീടും (fig. 473 1. 2 a.) prov. മീടിട്ടു കുടിക്ക to sip like animals.

vaḷḷi T. M. C. Tu. (S. വല്ലി fr. വള്‍). 1. A creeper, vine; fig. വ. കൊടുക്ക, എടുക്ക an earnest. 2. No. the pepper-vine കുഴിച്ചി ട്ട വ. നോക്കായ്ക TR.; also കുഴിവ. pepper newly planted, നുകം പതിഞ്ഞതു of the height of a yoke; usually sorted as ശിശുവ., അഫലംവ., ഫലം വ. TR. വ. വെട്ടുക, കൊത്തിവലിക്ക (rebels' action). വള്ളി ചോര്‍ന്നു 398. 3. the mark of ഇ (—ി), ചുറെച്ച വ. of ൦രം (— ീ). 4. കാതിന്‍റെ വള്ളി (വക്കു) the expanded ear-lobe of females. 5. വള്ളി T. Palg. Subrahmanya's wife, N. pr. f., hon. വള്ളിയമ്മ, വള്ളിച്ചി (അച്ചി). Kinds: കാട്ടു — Dioscorea bulbifera, ക'പ്പൂര— Lavandula carnosa, നൂല്‍വ. (or പന്നിവ.) (see under വള്ളല്‍). വള്ളിക്കാഞ്ഞിരം = ചെറുകാഞ്ഞിരം. വള്ളിക്കാണം So. earnest money. വള്ളിക്കാതു No. the rim of the external ear (from the anthelix to the lobe). വള്ളിക്കിഴങ്ങു Convolvulus batatas പെരുവ. Dioscorea alata. B. വള്ളിക്കുടില്‍ a natural arbour വ'ലില്‍ കിടന്നു, വ'ലകം പുക്കു SiPu.; so വള്ളിക്കെട്ടില്‍ ഒളി ച്ചു KR. വള്ളിക്കൊടി (2) the pepper-vine. വള്ളിക്കൊട്ട a basket of creepers. വള്ളിത്തടം (2) 4—5 (വള്ളിത്തവ) pepper-shoots planted together. വള്ളിത്തുള a hole in timber or a boat for dragging it.

vēl T. M. (വെല്ലു). 1. Weapon. 2. a lance, pike വേ. കൊണ്ടു വീണു, തറെച്ചു, ചാടി (javelin) AR. വേലഞ്ചിന കണ്ണാള്‍ RC. having eyes more formidable than a javelin. വേലകം a timber-tree. (Palg. 3 kinds: വേ., കരു —, വെളു —). = വേലമരം? വേലന്‍ 1. (Te. bēla, C. bēḷ, T. mad) = വേല ക്കുറുപ്പു, അഞ്ഞൂററന്‍, പാണന്‍ a caste of midwives, accoucheurs (using ശസ്ത്രപ്രയോ ഗം KN.), basket-makers (വള്ളിക്കൂട), വേല ന്നു കെട്ടിയാട്ടം dance as jungle deities, in preparation for hunting etc. — f. വേലത്തി, വേററി a midwife എടുത്ത വേ., വേററി (gen. പേററി) ആകാഞ്ഞിട്ടു കുട്ടി പെണ്ണായി prov. 2.
