Found in Tdbh.'s: before initial ര, ല, ട as ഇരാശി, ഇലവംഗം, ഇടക്ക; — instead of ഋ as ഇടവം; — inserted, as കാരിയം, വരിഷം. In Dravidian words it changes with ഉ as in ഇരു, ഇരി — glides into എ before Cerebrals & Liquids, as ഇടം, എടം; ഇര, ഇറങ്ങു, ഇല, ഇളയ etc. ഇ i 5.
