koδumbụ & കൊതുന്പില്‍ 1. Husk of corn before the ears burst, covering of cocoanut-blossoms. 2. the strong fibrous fruit stalk of cocoanut, used for strings = കൊതന്പ, തേങ്ങാക്കണ്ണി. (കൊതുന്പിന്‍ ചൂട്ട. a kind of torch). ആദിത്യരശ്മി കയറോ കൊതുന്പോ കാ ണുന്നു എന്നു തോന്നും Nid 28.

kayarka (Te. കസര്‍ anger, C. unripe = കൈക്ക S. കഷ). 1. To start up in anger, revolt, quarrel. അമ്മാമുഖം നോക്കി വാക്കില്‍ കയര്‍ത്തു കൈ ഓങ്ങിപ്പോകില്‍ Anj. വാക്കില്‍ ഏറ കയര്‍ക്കേണ്ടാ നമ്മില്‍ why talk, better fight! കയര്‍ത്തഭാവം etc. 2. (= കയറുക) to grow high. കയര്‍ത്തതെങ്ങൊഴികേ KU. 3. v. a. to reprove, punish എന്മകന്‍ തന്നെ കയര്‍ത്തു നിന്നീടു ഞാന്‍ എങ്ങനെ, മകനെ കയര്‍ക്കുന്നേനല്ല ഞാന്‍ എന്നു മേ CG.

kuṇṭham S. (= കുണ്ടന്‍) Lame, dejected, blunt. കുണ്ഠരോധിയാം കണ്ണുനീര്‍ Nal. കുണ്ഠബു ദ്ധിയെ കളഞ്ഞു VCh. to rouse oneself. — കുണ്ഠ ത്വം വെടിഞ്ഞു Bhg. indolence. കുണ്ഠിതം (part.) backwardness; sadness. ഉ ള്ളില്‍ കു. ഉണ്ടു CC. I grieve.

ka represents in Tdbh. the other gutturals (ചങ്കു fr. ശംഖം, കിരിയം fr. ഗൃഹം, കനം fr. ഘനം; കേമം, പക്കം fr. ക്ഷേമം, പക്ഷം; വ രാകന്‍ a M. fr. വരാഹന്‍). ക in the middle of words slides into യ (അരികത്തു, അരിയത്തു), വ (അക, അവ), ഹ (ആഹെ, വഹ TR.) or disappears (പുരുഷകാരം — പുരുഷാരം, ആകും — ആം, എടുത്തുകൊള്ളു — എടുത്തോളു, ഏറനാട്ടു കര — ട്ടര, ചെരിപ്പുകുത്തി — പ്പൂത്തി.).
