čoṭṭa (Te. Tu. C. Te. distorted, deformed = ചൊള്ളു, H. čhōṭa fr. ക്ഷുദ്രം small, petty) 1. No. = ചൊട്ടി a bose, knob or ornamental dot on knife-handles etc.; a knob into which the blade of a knife & a style are fixed. 4. a palm flower before bursting. B. 5. N. pr. male. ചൊട്ടാള്‍ (2) a small man. ചൊട്ടക്കോല്‍ (1) വാളും ചുരികയും ചൊ'ലും Pay. ചൊട്ടച്ചാണ്‍ 1. (C. Tu. ചോട്ടു) span of the thumb & forefinger (= പ്രാദേശം). 2. = 1½ spans എന്‍റെ ചൊ'ണ്‍ വയറു my little stomach. ചൊട്ടപ്പൂട്ടു a padlock. ചൊട്ടവാള്‍ (1) a small sword.

(അര്‍ശോ ഘ്നം S.). — Kinds: കാട്ടു — Arum gracile GP71., നാട്ടു —, നീലച്ചേ — Arum minutum, മുള്ളന്‍ — Dracontium polyphyllum, കൈപ്പെഞ്ചേനത്ത ണ്ടു പോലേ TP. ചേനപ്പൂ eatable; — വറുപ്പു an ഉപ്പേരി. ചേനത്തണ്ടന്‍ a venomous snake (similar to an Arum stem); — മണ്ഡലി or — വിരിയന്‍ the larger kind. ചേനത്തലയന്‍ B. bald headed.
