čōraṇam S. (ചുര്‍, L. fur) Theft ചോ. ചെയ്വാന്‍ ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല PT. (= ക പ്പാന്). ഭാര്യയെ ചോ. ചെയ്തു KR. ചോരന്‍, (f. — രിണി) athief. ചോരവിദ്യേക്കു ഫലം ഏതുമില്ല Bhr. an art, surreptitiously acquired (= ചതിച്ചു പഠിച്ചുള്ള).

čeḍikka (C. ചെളി, സെഡെ = ചട പ്പു) 1. To be tired, satisfied; to disrelish. 2. to be dirty, angry, to frown V1. — VN. ചെടിപ്പു loath.

čaḍaγam S. 1. A sparrow. ചടകവ്യൂഹം ചെയ്തു Bhr. a kind of battle array. 2. = പടക്കം. a firework (a cracker imported from China) ഓ ലച്ചടകം a triangular, country-made cracker. ച. പൊട്ടിക്ക to let off a cracker.

stands for ഛ (ചായം), ജ (ചലം), ഝ (ച ടിതി), ശ (ചാത്തം fr. ശ്രാ., ചാക്യാര്‍ fr. ശ്ലാ.), ഷ (ചടങ്ങു), സ (ചേകവന്‍), (നച്ചിയം); ക്ഷ (ചാരം,തച്ചന്‍), even for ദ്യ (ചൂതു) and യ (ചോ നകന്‍) & dialectically ര (രാ —in TP. ചാ —). Palatal vowels may change a dental into ച (തെള്ളു —, ചെള്ളു; പരിതു— പരിചു, as in grammar കടിച്ചു from കടിത്തു),, or lead to the dropping of an initial ച(ചിറകു— ഇറകു; ചേട്ട— ഏട്ട). Old ച is also found lapsing into ശ (അര ചു— അരശു, പുതുച്ചേരി— ശ്ശേരി and സ (ഉ രുസുക, തുറസ്സ്). For etymological researches this is perhaps the most difficult letter. (In C. & Tu. ക represents frequently initial ച,, as ചെവി—കിവി; ചേരം— കേരളം.
