tulayuγa (C. Te. Tu. തൊല്ഗു to move away) 1. aM. tāḷi T. M. (താള്‍) 1. A creeper, the leaves of which are used in cleansing the head before bathing or in washing off the oil rubbed on the body, താ'യും തേച്ചു തല ഒലുന്പി, താ'ത്തരി തട്ടി TP. esp. ഏച്ചില്‍ത്താ. 2. നാലു താളി or 4 തോല്‍ plants used as signs of an interdict, തിരു മുടിത്താളി വെച്ചു വിരോധിച്ചു TR.; വെള്ളില etc. 3. tīyaǹ, a M. തീവന്‍ (Port. Fr. Tives) An islander, the caste of the palm-cultivators, toddy-drawers, sugar-makers, etc. The ൦രംഴ വര്‍ are in fact the same caste, & both are said to have come with the South-tree (തെങ്ങു) from Ceylon KU. — fem. തീയത്തി & തീയപ്പെണ്ണു TR. തീയര്‍ ആദിയായിട്ടുള്ള കീഴ്ജാതികള്‍ TR.; the caste rose in dignity by serving the English at Tellicherry. പുതിയ തീ. a Tīyar-bridegroom. തീയത്താളന്‍ an islander, (see തീവു). തീയന്‍ വാഴ the Maledive-plantain.
