tōtram S. (തുദ് to sting). A goad, also: തോദനം = തോട്ടി. — തോദം = കുത്തു.

tiδikša S. (desid. of തിജ്, to steel oneself). Patience, തി. യും വാക്ഛാന്തിയും (sic, al. — ക്ശ —) Bhr.; അപമാനാദിസഹിക്കുന്നതു തി. KeiN.; തി. ആകുന്നതു ദു:ഖത്തെ സഹിക്ക Bhg. തിതിക്ഷു = ക്ഷമാശീലന്‍. Bhg.

tar̀a T. M. (C. തരവു, fr. C. Te. തറു to sink in) 1. Foundation (പല്ലിനു തറ ഇട്ടു the tooth is forming); the stone-rows of a house, the site of a house. 2. a mound, elevated ground; an altar, as പൂത്തറ, കല്‍ത്തറ, മണ്‍തറ V1.; ആറാട്ടുതറ; for a marriage ചെത്തിയടിച്ചു പുര ത്തില്‍ എങ്ങും നല്‍ത്തറയിട്ടു മെഴുകിയല്ലോ Anj.; a mound raised at the bottom of a tree, നികും ഭില ആല്ത്തറമേലേറി AR., അരയാ (ല്‍) ത്തറ etc. ആല്‍ത്തറമുകളേറി കാററും ഏററിരിക്കും SiPu. 3. ground (in T. = ധര) നിന്നെ അടല്‍ത്തറ മേല്‍ വീഴ്ത്തി RC. (= കളം). കളിക്കുന്ന തറ stage; a small district, parish (now ദേശം), ഞാന്‍ ത റതറകള്‍ക്ക ഒക്കയും ആളെ അയച്ചു TR. Similar to തെരു, a village, quarter; chiefly നായര്‍തറ, but also ആണ്ടി —, കമ്മാള —, വേട്ടുവത്തറ Palg.; country-places, Mofussil, Cann. 4. nailing, rivetting (= തറെപ്പു) ത. പിടിക്ക to rivet. see തറി 4. Hence: തറക്കാര്‍ (3) Cann. those living in the country, Mofussilites. തറകെട്ടുക (1. 2) to raise a mound, to surround a mound with stones, lay a foundation. തറക്കെട്ടു = l. the stone-foundation of a house. തറയുക to be fixed, പച്ചവൃക്ഷത്തില്‍ ആണി ത റയും കണക്കനേ KeiN. (compar. to attentive hearing). തറവാടു (പാടു) 1. a house, chiefly of noblemen (൩൨തറവാട്ടുനായര്‍ under Porḷātiri), ancestral residence of land-owners നായായി പി റക്കിലും തറവാട്ടില്‍ പിറക്കേണം prov. 2. family. തറവാട്ടുകാരന്‍, (& തറവാടി B.) a householder, great proprietor; a Sūdra of the 6 uppermost classes (കുറുപ്പു etc.); member of the family, jud.; (mod.) educated & well to do people in any caste, മാനമര്യാദക്കാരന്‍. തറവാടുപുലര്‍ത്തി (loc.) = നടുതലക്കോപ്പുകള്‍. തറവാട്ടുമുതല്‍ unalienable family-property.

taγya 1. a M. = തവ; Raw flesh, as in a wound, തക വിറെക്ക V1. (aC. തഗെ firm). 2. തകതക beating time (= താളഭേദം).

taṭṭam 1. T. So. A flat plate. 2. (loc.) a pony, see II. തട്ടു. 3. (C. Te. ദട്ടി) long cloth tied round the waist, see തടുപ്പു) cloth as used for veils etc. സുല്‍ത്താന്‍റെ ത. Ti. Tippu's garment. അരെക്ക ഒരു ത. കെട്ടി jud. — ചന്ദ്ര ക്കലത്തട്ടം the nimbus-like arch under which the idol is suspended when carried about.

tuṇi T. M. (= തുണ്ടു) 1. Piece, rag. aM. തു. യായെയ്തു വീഴ്ത്തി, മല തുണിചെയ്തു RC. = തു ണ്ടിച്ചു. 2. cloth, തുണിയും മുണ്ടും prov.; എന്നെ ഒററത്തുണിയോടേ ഓട്ടി KR. banished me with one cloth. പല തുണിത്തരങ്ങള്‍ TR.; esp. women's cloth, ൧൦ മുഴം Anach. (=പുടവ). എന്നെക്കൊണ്ട അവളുടെ തലയും തു. യും കഴി പ്പാന്‍ കഴിയായ്കയാല്‍ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതു her support. തുണിയുക v. n. T. C. aM. to cut short, decide, venture (=mod. തുനിയുക), മറഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു പുനരപി ചാകത്തുണിഞ്ഞു കളിക്കുന്നൊരു മൃഗം KR.
