tiruḷ No. (= തിരള്‍; C. Tu. pulp, pith) 1. A bud, half grown leaf, still rolled up (തിര, തിരി). കാഞ്ഞിരത്തിന്‍ തി. ഒരു പിടി MM. 2. the uppermost leaf, തെങ്ങിന്‍റെ തി. കൊ ത്തി TR. തി. ഇളക്കിക്കിളിയോല പാറി ആന യടി വിരിഞ്ഞു (growth of a palm-tree).

taḷḷuγa T. M. C. 1. To push, thrust, നീന്തിതുടിച്ചുതിരകളെ ത. Bhg. to shove away. വാതിലും തള്ളി അകത്തങ്ങു ചെന്നു CG. opened. മൂക്കില്‍ വിരല്‍ തള്ളി നില്പാന്‍ കഴികയില്ല as a humble servant (see തുറുക). — to beat against, dash കുന്നിനെ തള്ളുന്ന വങ്കാററു; കള്ള രെ തള്ളിപ്പിടിച്ചുടന്‍ കെട്ടവേണം CG. to pounce on them. പിടിച്ചു തള്ളി, പുറത്തു തള്ളി Mud. 2. to reject, cast off. കല്യാണം കഴിച്ചപ്പെ ണ്ണിനെ തള്ളി TR. — In Arithm. to subtract കീ ഴ്ക്കടക്കണക്ക് ഉണ്ടാക്കി കാണത്തില്‍ തള്ളി TR. deducted from the കാണം. 3. v. n. to push on, to dash straight forward, to press on. തിര ത. Hence: തളളിക്കടത്തുക to push over or across. തള്ളിക്കളക to cast off, നുള്ളിക്കൊടു ചൊല്ലി ക്കൊടു തല്ലിക്കൊടു തള്ളിക്കള prov. — to annul. തള്ളിക്കൊടുക്ക to push towards another. തള്ളിനീക്കുക to push off, deduct, annul. തള്ളിയിടുക to push down; to overthrow. തള്ളിയെഴുക (3) to press on, ത'ന്നൊരു കണ്ണു നീര്‍, തള്ളിയെഴുന്ന കോപം CG. violent wrath. ത'ന്നൊരു ശീതം CG. exceedingly cold weather. തള്ളിവരിക (3) to come straight on. ത'ന്നീടും പട Mud. coming down upon us. വെള്ള ത്തില്‍ തിര ത'രും Anj. തള്ളിവിടുക to push down, പൊട്ടക്കൂപത്തില്‍ ത'ട്ടാര്‍ Bhr. —; to subvert. (or തള്ളാന്‍). — തള്ളുപടി what is rejected. 2. contempt തള്ളററീടും ശസ്ത്രജാലങ്ങള്‍ RC. not to be defied. 3. thronging, ത. കൊ ള്‍ക to be thronged. തള്ളേറു = തള്ളല്‍ 2. defiance പലതാലും ത'റായി ട്ടു പറഞ്ഞു TR, impudently. തള്ളേറുകാരന്‍ a defier.

tiraṭṭu T. M. (തിരള്‍) 1. Assemblage; abstract of accounts. മുളകു ചാര്‍ത്തി വന്ന ഒട്ടു ക്കുള്ള തി. TR. the sum total, also തിരട്ടു ക ണക്കു adding up a sum. കുറുന്തിരട്ടു a short abstract. 2. തിരട്ടുകഞ്ഞി, തി'കുളി etc., what refers to the first menstruation; (തിരട്ടുകല്യാ ണം = വയസ്സറിയിക്കും കല്യാണം). തിരട്ടുക 1. So. to ball up, (= തിരയു 1.). 2. തി രട്ടിവെക്ക to perform a ceremony for a girl of 5-6 years, in preparation of marriage (putting her aside, as if for the first menstruation).

tiṭṭa T. M. C (തിട്ടു) 1. Raised ground, hillock, shoal, മണ(ല്‍)ത്തിട്ട sandbank. 2. a raised seat, as in a veranda, തെക്കുവടക്കായി തി. ഇരി ക്കുന്നു, തി. എന്നാല്‍ തിണ (jud.) in a shop. 3. palisades, as placed between fighting elephants V1. (&തിട്ടന്‍ V1. a trench).

tir̀am T.C. (തെറം), Te. തീറു (manner, fr. തിറു) M. 1. Vigour, ability തി. കാട്ടുക B., തി റമുറും അരചന്‍ RC, വന്പടതിറത്തില്‍ നില്ക്ക ണം KR., തിറമോടെതിരിടും രഥികള്‍ Bhr., തിറമില്ലാത്തവന്‍റെ കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിച്ചു കൊടു ത്തവര് VyM. 2. fine manner, stateliness, മുഖത്തിറം‍ = പ്രസാദം. തിറക്കേടു weakness. തിറങ്കണ്ണു (fr. തിറന്പുക?) the eye turned sidewards. തി'ണ്ണാല്‍ കണ്ടു saw but imperfectly. തി'ണ്ണാല്‍ നോക്കി viewed it superficially. തിറവു aM. = തിറം; hence adj. തിറവിയ strong (തി. ചിറ; തന്‍തേര്‍ തി. വഴിക്കുപൂട്ടി RC.)

tuttiγa & ചു — A leathern vessel 'dubber', esp. with oil-merchants, പശുനെയി ത്തുത്തിയ രണ്ടു TR.; നെയിത്തു. യില്‍ ൦രംര്‍ച്ച പ്പൊടി നിറെച്ചു ചതിച്ചു വിററു (jud.)
