niṇam aC. M. (T. V1. fat) 1. Coagulated blood = ചോരക്കട്ട; blood കുടലു നിണം ഉടലില്‍ അണിഞ്ഞു RS. smeared with heart's blood. അരിഞ്ഞരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നി. കുടിപ്പിപ്പന്‍ KR. shed blood. നിണത്തെയും നുകര്‍ന്തു RC. 2. an imitation of blood for sacrifices (അരിപ്പൊടി, മഞ്ഞള്‍, നുറു) = കുരുതി.

naγara, = നവര, നവിര q. v. A fast growing rice.

naranda (T. smell = നറു). A creeper used med. against asthma & obstruction (also നെടിയോന്‍), ന. ച്ചാറുമൂവള്ളം a. med.

nayanam S. (leading). Eye അവന്‍ ന. എന്നും ഇളകാ RC. (of a corpse). നയന ജലം വാര്‍ത്തു Mud. wept. നയനത്തീ Bhr. of Siva. നയനഭാഷകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു (jud.) a dumb explains by gestures. നക്ഷത്രത്തിന്മേല്‍ ന' ങ്ങള്‍ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു നടക്ക. നയനഗോചരം apparent, clear (to the eye). നയനാമൃതം, നയനഹരം a delightful sight.

ney T. M. aC. Te. (Tdbh.; സ്നേഹം) & നൈ. 1. Any unctuous substance, grease, fat, oil, whence, എണ്ണ (എള്‍നെയി), വെണ്ണാ, പന്നിനെയി lard. നെ.വെക്ക to become fat, proud. 2. ghee ഉരുക്കുനൈ യാഗാദികര്‍മ്മ ങ്ങള്‍ക്കുത്തമം, പഴനൈ വ്രണങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പ്രയോ ഗിപ്പാന്‍ GP.; വെയിക്കുന്പോള്‍ നെയി ക്രട്ടേണം TP.; നൈ ക്രട്ടിയാല്‍ നെഞ്ഞറിയും prov. — നെയ്യില്‍ കൈ മൂക്കുക to put the hand into boiling ghee, an ordeal for women accused of a breach of caste rules, നെയ്യിക്കൈമുക്കേണം TP. 3. transfer of land by കുടുമനീര്‍ which leaves to the proprietor a nominal income of one നാഴി ghee, to the value of 1 fanam per annum. നെയിനിന്നു പോയാല്‍ നാഴിക്ക് ഒരോ പണം വെക്കും KU. if this duty be not paid, interest upon interest is to be demanded. Hence: നെയ്ക്കുലം a frying pan. നെയ്ക്കുററി a jar of ghee. നെ. വെക്കു to present it as a token of respect. നെയ്തട്ടു a vessel of oil, in shops. നെയ്തറ N. pr., നെ. പ്പുഴ the river of Vaḷar- paṭṭaṇam. നെയ്പല (& നെയ്പാട) cream, fat ചേരയും ചലവും നെ. യും മലമൂത്രം പൂരിച്ച നരകം Bhg.; ചോരയില്‍ കളിക്കയും നെ.ധരിക്ക യും SiPu. on battle-fields. നെയ്മീന്‍ V1. a tender fish. നെയ്യുപ്പം a cake, offered in temples. നെ. തി ന്നാല്‍ രണ്ടുണ്ടു ലാഭം prov. നെയ്യമൃതം an offering (in Sivarātri & Sankrānti), ദേവനു നെ. മുട്ടാതേ കഴിച്ചു കൊള്ളൂ

nuḷa (loc.) Wet, damp (= ഞളു?). നുളരുക to be moist, damp പൂത്തു നന്നായ ള ര്‍ന്നിട്ടു നില്പൊരു മരങ്ങള്‍ KR.

noṇṇụ = തൊണ്ണു No. Gums 1. of infants (പല്ലു മുളക്കേണ്ടും ഇടം). 2. of old people (പ ല്ലു പോയേടം); പിള്ളെക്കു നോ. കാട്ടൊല്ല prov. നൊണ്ണന്‍, നൊണ്ണി m., നൊണ്ണിച്ചി) f. toothless (= തൊണ്ണന്‍, വപ്പി).

niḍalam S. (= നെററി, fr. നിടു). The forehead, (നിടലക്കുഴി temples); gen. നിടിലം, as നിടിലത്തില്‍ വിയര്‍ത്തീടും VyM. നിടിലക്ക ണ്ണന്‍, നിടിലക്കനല്‍ Anj. (Siva's 3rd eye). — also നിടാലം (സുന്ദരനിടാലന്‍ KR.) നിട്ടാന്തം No. vu. = ദൃഷ്ടാന്തം.
