naḍ/?/ikka S. To roar, നദിക്കുന്നു ഗജേ ന്ദ്രന്മാര്‍ KR. നദം a river, Brhmd. (in T. a male river, as of the western coast) — നദി river, a fem. river, as those running eastward — നദീ ജലം PT. = പുഴവെള്ളം; fig. മരുക്തന്മാരായ നദികള്‍ക്ക് എല്ലാമഹം അബ്ധി Bhg. നദീകാന്തന്‍, നദീപതി the sea.

nīǰam S. (ന്യഞ്ച്). Low, also of sound സ്വരം അത്യുച്ചമില്ലതിനീചവും KR.; നീചരില്‍ ചെയ്ത ഉപകാരം prov. benefits to mean persons. നീചഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ = രാഹു, കേതു (astr.) നീചജാതി low-caste = താണ — 449. നീചത്വം mean condition (നീ. മമ ജാതിക്കുണ്ടു Mud.) നീചവൃത്തിക്കാരന്‍ of mean habits. നീചൈഃ low, adv. നീചൈസ്തരാം with a low voice. nēd/?/išṭham S. Next. നേന്ത്രവാഴ or നൈന്ത്ര — q. v. A large kind of plantains. — നേന്ത്രപ്പഴം, — ക്കാ used chiefly for curry.

nir̀uγa = നെറുക q. v. (fr. T. നിറുവുക to stand upright). നി.യില്‍ ചുംബിച്ചു, മുകര്‍ന്നു AR. Bhr. The mould of the head V1.

noṇṇụ (T. നുങ്കു, Te. — the unripe pulp of a palmyra-nut; fr, നുണ്‍?). 1. In Palg. when tender, is called ഇളന്ന (T. ഇളനുങ്കു comp. ഇളന്നീര്‍); when the soft kernel can be taken out കൊഴന്പന്‍ or കുഴന്പന്‍ കണ്ണു; the fruit deprived of the pulp: നൊങ്ങു, നൊങ്ങണ്ടി. 2. in Trav. a cocoanut the kernel of which swells out into a sweet spongy substance through lying for a long time, No. പൊങ്ങു.
