T. M. Te. (fr. പെയര്‍ see പേര്‍പ്പു). 1. A name, as it were the duplicate of a person or thing. ഇല്ലപ്പേര്‍, വീട്ടുപേര്‍ the family name. പേര്‍ ഇടുക to name (= വിളിക്ക, കെട്ടുക). തക്ഷ കന്‍ എന്ന പേരിട്ടു കൊണ്ടു Bhr. പൈതങ്ങള്‍ രണ്ടിന്നും പേരിട്ടുകൊള്ളേണം CG. ഗോക്കളെ പേര്‍ ചൊല്ലി നീള വിളിക്കയും CG. കണിശന്‍ ഇനിക്കു മുന്പേ പേര്‍ വിളിച്ചു prov. (why call my name so often). പേരുമാത്രവും കിട്ടാ & പേര ്‍മാത്രം ശേഷിക്കും PT. will utterly perish. എന്നു പേര്‍ പൊങ്ങും Bhg. called. 2. a person, individual നാലു പേര്‍ = നാല്വര്‍; രണ്ടു പേര ്‍കളും ഉടുത്തു Nal. ഏഴു പേരുടെ നാമങ്ങള്‍ Bhr. വധിക്കേണ്ടും പേരില്‍ ആര്‍ KR. who belongs to the വദ്ധ്യന്മാര്‍? എയ്യുന്ന പേരുകള്‍ Bhr.; എ പ്പേരീം (often written എപ്പ്യേരും) all, any persons or things എപ്യേരുമേ Nal. 3. notoriety, fame പേരും പെരിപ്പവും Bhr. etc. പേര്‍ പെററ, കൊണ്ട, ഉള്ള famous. പേ. നടക്കേണം ലോകങ്ങളില്‍ Sk. പേ. കെട്ടു പോയി No. loss of credit. പെരാക 1. to be something, have a title ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗം ചേയ്തിട്ടു പേരാകേണം (or എടു ക്കേണം). 2. to be notorious എന്നു പേരും ആകും TP. it will be said. ഏലം നുറു തുലാം

paṇġ S. Lame; Saturn, as moving slowly — N. pr. പങ്ങു, (see under പങ്കു).

pūnduγa So. (fr. പൂഴു). To sink in the ground, വിശിഖം പൂന്തി ChS. പൂത്തു, കുഴിപ്പൂത്തു So. a grave. v. a. പൂത്തുക (പൂഴ്ത്തുക) 1. to press into ചവിട്ടിച്ചളി യില്‍ പൂത്തും MR. (a threat). മുട്ട എഴു തി നെല്ലില്‍ പൂ a kind of charm; suspected persons must take a certain egg out of a heap of rice, when the thief will be detected. ചക്രം എഴുതി ധനുമ്മേല്‍ പൂത്തേക്ക Mantr. തീയില്‍കൊണ്ട കായി പൂത്തി (to cook it). 2. to bury ശവം എത്ര ആഴം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു പൂ ത്തിയതു jud. — also met. നേരിനേ പൂത്തു, ക ളവു പൂത്തു (vu. — ത്തി) പറഞ്ഞു = മറെച്ചു. (പൂ:) പൂന്തുകില്‍ a fine flowered cloth മഞ്ഞപ്പൂ' ലും Bhr. (of K/?/šṇa's), Pay. പൂന്തുറ N. pr. the original abode of the ancestors of Tāmūri (ഏറാടിമാര്‍), who thence is called കോഴിക്കോട്ടു പൂന്തുറക്കോന്‍ KU. പൂന്തേങ്ങ B. the bulbous root of lotus.

pēǹ T. Te. C. M. A louse, the black kind ൦രംരും പേനും; തലപ്പേന്‍ & ശീലപ്പേന്‍ etc. പേന്പിടി Vl. see പെണ്‍പടി. പേന്പിണി (fr. പേ?) in പേച്ചി തന്‍ പേന്പി ണിപോക്കുവാന്‍ CG. to render that fiend's poison ineffective. പേയി T. see പേ A demon.

pot/?/t/?/a (T. slight elevation fr. പൊറ q.v., Te. പൊട്ടി short). 1. A slight elevation in rice-grounds = കരക്കണ്ടം No., തറ Trav. പൊ. മേലേ ചാള vu.; ഞാററുപൊ. (411) nursery of rice-plants. 2. exposed roots of cocoa-palms = ജടവേര്‍. 3. the dried pus of ulcers, pellicle of itch, scab ചിറങ്ങിന്‍റെ പൊ. അടര്‍ത്തുന്നു, കുരുപ്പിന്‍റെ പൊ. — also ഉളളി പ്പൊററ = ചുള V2. 4. what is slight, useless, a mote. പൊററപ്പാറ bad, stony ground. പൊ. ക്കാര്യം = ആകാത്ത. പൊററകൃഷി (1) Palg. = കരകൃഷി No. പൊററന്‍ B. (=പൊററ) കെട്ടുക to incrustate.

paḍakkam (പടപട). A cracker, തോ ല്പ. പൊട്ടുക to go off. പ. പൊട്ടിക്ക, കൊളുത്തു ക to fire it. A kind ഓലപ്പ —. (C. H. paṭāka).

prāyam S. (പ്ര, ഇ). 1. Passing out of life, by resolute fasting. 2. stage of life ന ല്ല പ്രായത്തില്‍ മരിച്ചു of good old age. അ ഞ്ചില്‍ പെരുക്കിയോരഞ്ചുവയസ്സിവര്‍ക്കാക ഒരു പോലേ, എപ്പോഴും ദേവകള്‍ക്കിങ്ങിനേ പ്രാ. KR. പ്രാ. കുറഞ്ഞതെങ്ങു MR. ബാലപ്രായം youthfulness, also = പര്‍വ്വം see നെല്ലു. 3. rule, measure വേട്ടുവര്‍ മലയര്‍ ഈ രണ്ടു ജാതിക്ക് ഒരു പ്രാ. KN. of the same degree of elevation. വര്‍മ്മങ്ങളെ നുറുക്കിയാന്‍ എണ്മണിപ്രാ. Brhmd. ചത്ത പ്രാ. ആയി is well nigh dead; therefore in Cpds. like പശു പ്രാ., കൃമിപ്രാ., ജലപ്രാ., മൃതപ്രായരായി KR. ഒരു കടുപ്രായേണBhg. പ്രായക്കാരന്‍ (loc.) of that age നാലു വയസ്സു പ്ര. jud. സമപ്രായക്കാര്‍ coetaneans. പ്രായാധിക്യം extreme age പ്രാ'ത്താല്‍ അപ്രാ പ്തന്‍ MR. പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം S. A streak, tie, metal plate. 2. an ornament of the forehead, diadem, a string of jewels as worn by Rājas & idols നെററിപ്പ.; hence പ. കെട്ടുക to crown, ഭ്രാതാവെ പ. കെട്ടിച്ചു Mud. 3. high dignity, ordination & tonsure പ. വെട്ടുക, കൊ ടുക്ക. (കന്നിപ്പ. first tonsure, ൪ പ. the 4 lower orders, അഞ്ചു പ., ആറു പ. orders enabling to read the Epistles, the Gospels V1.). 4. a succession ൧൦൮ പ. are promised to Tāmūri KU. (108 വാഴ്ച). ൧൪ ഇന്ദ്രപ്പട്ടം മാറിവരുന്നേട ത്തോളം VyM. പട്ടക്കാരന്‍ (see also പട്ട) a priest, Nasr. — കുറുബാന്‍ പ.
