paṭṭasam = പട്ടിശം. A kind of spear പ. നല്ല ഗദകള്‍ Mud.; ഖള്‍ഗപട്ടസബാണ ങ്ങള്‍ DM.

pūδam S. (പൂ to cleanse). Pure — പൂതനാ യുള്ളൊരു താതന്‍, പൂതരായുള്ള സോദരന്മാര്‍ CG. (= noble). പൂതണക്കു (പൂ). A Stereulia, Buch. or Gyrocarpus, or = ഭൂര്‍ജ്ജം.

pibāsa S. (desid. of പാ) Thirst ക്ഷുല്‍ പി കള്‍കൊണ്ടു മൂ൪ഛ്ശിതന്‍ Nal.

pakkụ T. M. (C. പക്കെ) Side = പക്കം, പക്കല്‍. f. i. പക്കില്‍നിന്നു, പക്കുന്നു on the side. — പക്കേ = പക്ഷേ.

piδāvụ S. (Nom. of പിതൃ fr. പാ, Ju-piter). Father, pl. പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ Brhmd. പി താക്കള്‍ ഇരിവരും Mud. parents. പിതാക്കള്‍ക്കു നല്കി VetC. to father & mother. നേരേ പറക പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു നീ Bhr. പിതാമഹന്‍ S. paternal grandfather; Brahma. — (fem. പി'ഹി Brhmd.) — പി'ന്മാരു ടെ ഗതി വരുത്തുവാന്‍ KU. ancestors. പിതിര്‍, പിതിടു, see under പിതറുക.

pakkaṇam S. Hut of a jungle-dweller VilvP., കാട്ടാളന്‍ തന്നുടെ പ'ത്തില് ചെന്നു‍ CG. = പുലച്ചാള V2., (fr. പക്കല്‍ refuge T.)

piγayuγa (T. പികു, C. Tu. Te. bigu, tension, C. Te. pigulu, to burst from tension). To wrestle തമ്മലില്‍ പൊഞ്ഞോണ്ടു TP. — to turn, twirl തമ്മില്‍ തര്‍ക്കിച്ചു പികഞ്ഞു. VN. പികെച്ചല്‍ twirling. പിക്കുക, ച്ചു V1. (C. to pluck. Tu. pinǰu) to break in pieces.

paǹǹa 1. (T. card cotton, C. trim hair, prh. fr. പര്‍ണ്ണം). Whiskers. പ. വെക്ക to wear whiskers. പ. വന്നോന്‍റെ കൈയില്‍ പാക്കു കൊടുക്കല്ല prov. — പന്നത്തല B. a head of long uncombed hair. 2. a fern, also parasitical hair-like plants, (Rh. writes generally പന). പന്നക്കിഴങ്ങു (= നരക്കി.) Polypodium quercifolium. പന്നവള്ളി Lomaria scandens, with strings durable in sea-water. Kinds: അരണപ്പ. Aspidium splendens; കരി വേലിപ്പ. Asp. parasit.; കാല്‍പ്പ. Asplenium ambiguum; തിരിപ്പ. Polypodium acrostichoides; തീപ്പ. a parasite; നിലപ്പ. Asplenium falcatum; പാറപ്പ. Asplenium ambiguum; മ തില്‍പ്പ. Polytrichum & Adiantum, maiden- hair V2.; വള്ളിപ്പ. Lygodium scandens. പന്നത്താടിക്കാരന്‍ who wears whiskers.

pūnduγa So. (fr. പൂഴു). To sink in the ground, വിശിഖം പൂന്തി ChS. പൂത്തു, കുഴിപ്പൂത്തു So. a grave. v. a. പൂത്തുക (പൂഴ്ത്തുക) 1. to press into ചവിട്ടിച്ചളി യില്‍ പൂത്തും MR. (a threat). മുട്ട എഴു തി നെല്ലില്‍ പൂ a kind of charm; suspected persons must take a certain egg out of a heap of rice, when the thief will be detected. ചക്രം എഴുതി ധനുമ്മേല്‍ പൂത്തേക്ക Mantr. തീയില്‍കൊണ്ട കായി പൂത്തി (to cook it). 2. to bury ശവം എത്ര ആഴം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു പൂ ത്തിയതു jud. — also met. നേരിനേ പൂത്തു, ക ളവു പൂത്തു (vu. — ത്തി) പറഞ്ഞു = മറെച്ചു. (പൂ:) പൂന്തുകില്‍ a fine flowered cloth മഞ്ഞപ്പൂ' ലും Bhr. (of K/?/šṇa's), Pay. പൂന്തുറ N. pr. the original abode of the ancestors of Tāmūri (ഏറാടിമാര്‍), who thence is called കോഴിക്കോട്ടു പൂന്തുറക്കോന്‍ KU. പൂന്തേങ്ങ B. the bulbous root of lotus.

pūṇuγa T. M. C. (Te. pūḍu, see പു ണര്‍). 1. v. n. To be closed ചങ്ങല പൂണ്ടുള്ള വാതില്‍ CG.; to be yoked, put to തേരില്‍ പൂ ണ്ട അശ്വം Nal. 2. v. a. to embrace മാറോ ടു ചേര്‍ത്തു പൂണ്ടു CG. കണ്ണുകള്‍ ചിമ്മിപ്പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Bhr. പൂമൈ പൂണുക Si Pu. അവളെ പൂ. (= പു ണര്‍ന്നു). 3. to put on as cloth, ornaments അംബരം പൂണാത പൈതല്‍ CG. യോഗിവേ ഷം പൂണ്ടാന്‍ Mud. ദിവ്യരൂപവും പൂണ്ടേന്‍ VilvP. assumed. 4. to have കന്പത്തെ പൂണു ന്നോരേണം CG. the trembling deer. പരമാന ന്ദം പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Nal. was full of joy, ഭക്തി പൂ. AR., ശക്തി പൂ., കരുണ, വിസ്മയം, ഇണ്ടല്‍, മയ്യല്‍, മാല്‍പൂണ്ടു etc. = with. ഒച്ച പൂണ്ട നൃപന്‍ famous (= ഉള്ള). 5. = പൂഴുക V1. 696. (ചക്രം പൂണ്ടുപോയി Palg.) പൂണാടന്‍ in ആലക്കല്‍ പൂ Palg. exh. a kind of paddy. പൂണാഞ്ചി B. cloth etc. worn over one shoulder & under the other = പൂണുനൂല്‍ പരിചു. പൂണാന്‍ So. resisting the yoke, unyielding.
