M. Te. C. (peggu & heraku to chooBe, Tu. peǰe, T. por̀ukku). 1. To pick up, take up one by one, as എരുന്തു MR., fire-wood, stones for a sling, to glean fruits, അരിമണി Bhr. തൂകുന്പോള്‍ പെറുക്കേണ്ട prov. don't spare. വിരകിട്ടു തീയും പെറുക്കി അങ്ങതില്‍ വറട്ടി KR. (al. പെരുക്കി.) — met. അവന്‍ പെറുക്കിപ്പോയി has become a gleaner, beggar. VN. പെറുക്കു in കാലായ്; — 243, താപ്പിടി — 444 പിടിത്താള്‍ —; ഒന്നാം പെറുക്കു (for the owner) No. gleaning. പെറുക്കി one who gleans, greedy after ഇരന്നു നടക്കുന്ന പെറുക്കികള്‍, തുക്കിപ്പെ. & പെ. ത്തുക്കി 464, പെ. ത്തുക്കിച്ചി f. poṇṇaǹ = പൊട്ടന്‍, A heavy stupid man, dolt, coward Vl. (= കുടവയറന്‍ V2.). പിടിയാതെ പൊണ്ണര്‍ Bhr. പൊ'നാം ശ്വാവു, പൊണ്ണക്കുരങ്ങന്‍ PT. പൊണ്ണന്മാര്‍ എന്നു നണ്ണി KR. blockheads. പൊണ്ണുങ്ങളോടിടകൂടി രസി ക്കുന്ന പൊ'ന്മാര്‍ക്കുണ്ടോ വിശേഷജ്ഞാനം SG. വലിയപൊണ്ണ RS. പൊണ്ണത്വം 1. stupidity പൊ'മായതഖിലം Anj. a mere empty show. 2. = പൊങ്ങച്ചം f. i. പൊ. പറക to vaunt, also പൊണ്ണത്തരം. പൊണ്ണാച്ചി m. & f. = വന്‍ പൊണ്ണന്‍: പോയാല്‍ പൊറുക്കുവാന്‍ പൊ. മതി prov. പൊണ്ണി fem. of പൊണ്ണന്‍.

pāḍa (T. Te. pile, S. row fr. പടു). 1. What rises to the surface, scum, froth. പാ. ചൂടുന്നു froth to form. പാ. യുളള കഞ്ഞി rice drawing a skin. കണ്ണിലേ പാ. rheum, so നെയ്പാട & പാ. കൂടിയ (കെട്ടിയ) ഇളന്നീര്‍ No. the flesh of the cocoanut beginning to form. 2. cream V1. തൈര്‍ പാ. കൂടാതേ കൂട്ടുകില്‍ GP.; പാല്‍പ്പാ. ക്കട്ടി Arb. cheese. — used met. ഭരതന്നു മുഴു ത്തൊരു പാടയെടുത്ത പാല്‍ എന്തിന്നു തരു വാന്‍ ചൊല്ലുന്നു KR. 3. (S. പാഠ) Cissampelus or Clypea പാടക്കിഴങ്ങു കഴഞ്ചു a. med. GP71. — (പാടക്കുറിഞ്ഞി, betterവാടാക്കു —).

1. To augment. മരം പെ. a ceremony on Utrāḍam, with pāṇar beating the Mad'daḷam, to secure a rich crop. നെല്‍ പെ. a similar act, presenting the first sheaf to Laxmi and abstaining from giving alms. പെ'വാന്‍ പണ്ണാരം പുക്കു TP. 2. to multiply (=ഏററുക) സംഖ്യയെ നാലില്‍ പെരുക്കി TrP. ഇവറെറ പത്തില്‍ പെരുക്കി Gan. തള്ളകളെ ത ങ്ങളില്‍ പെ. CS. (also with ങ്ങാല്‍, കൊണ്ടു). 3. T. to sweep. പെരുങ്ങുക = പെരുകുക to be prolific ഒരു ക ടച്ചി പെററു പെരുങ്ങി ഓരാല നിറഞ്ഞു (loc.) പെരുങ്ങിണി N. pr. m. & f. of Cherumārs So. II.

piḍuṇṇuγa T. M. (= പിടി). To pull out, extort, vex. പിടുക്കു T. M. the testicle (ഒട്ടകപ്പിടുക്കു No. Indian rubber), പീ. വീങ്ങുക rupture (Te. C. = പിണര്‍). പിടുപിടേ 1. the sound of flame crackling. 2. thick, stiff (പിടിപ്പു). പിടെക്ക, see പിട.

puγil 1. So. (= പുകല്‍, പുകര്‍?) Noise, pomp, confusion B. 2. humidity as of soil. V1. perhaps = പൊഴില്‍. 3. (പുകുക VN. entry, also പൂവല്‍) harvest, reaping, vu. പൂല്‍ f. i. നി ലങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു പുകില്‍ ആകയാല്‍ മുണ്ടക വിള ഇറക്കി MR. എത്ര പൂല്‍ ആ നിലത്തില്‍നിന്ന് എടുത്തു? ഒരു പൂല്‍, മകരപ്പൂല്‍ തന്നേ; പറ ന്പില്‍ ഒരു പൂല്‍ചാമ etc. 4. (loc.) = കരക്കണ്ടം.

pa/?/ukka T. M. C. (Te. paṇḍu) 1. To grow old, ripe, പത്രം പ. Bhr.; പഴുത്ത പഴം ripe fruit, കുല പഴുക്കുന്പോള്‍ സങ്ക്രാന്തി, പഴു ക്കാന്‍ മൂത്താല്‍ പറിക്ക prov.; പ. വെക്ക to put fruits in straw (= പഴുപ്പിക്ക). 2. to become well tempered, red-hot. പ. ച്ചുടുക to roast well, എരിയുന്ന തീയില്‍ പഴുത്ത നാരാചം KR. 3. to suppurate പുണ്‍ പഴുക്കില്‍ MM. 4. to decay. പഴുത്തില a dried leaf, ദേഹം പഴു ത്തു പോയീടും KR. = പഴകി. പഴുത്തില hon. for betel, when Nāyars speak to Brahmans, Tīyars to Nāyars, etc. (see 4). VN. പഴുപ്പു 1. ripening of fruit, blighting of corn. പ. ചെന്നതു V2. overripe. 2. becoming tender, red-hot. മുഖം പ. thrush (S. മു ഖ പാകം). മനസ്സിന്‍റെ പ. V1. contrition. CV. പഴുപ്പിക്ക 1. to ripen artificially as പഴം, to heat as ഇരിന്പു, to accustom, inure. 2. മുഖം പഴുപ്പിക്ക No. actors personating women having their faces dyed with red arsenic (see മനയോല under മനം). പഴുപഴുക്ക to be discoloured; പ'പ്പു yellowness of face V1. pannāḍa T. c. So. (പന്ന 1. or പന). Web surrounding the stem-leaves of a palmyra = അടിച്ചിപ്പാര.

puṇ T. M. C. (huṇṇu & puru, Te. puṇḍu, Tu. puḍi). A sore, ulcer; a wound ഇലക്കണന്‍ തനിക്കു പുണ്‍നൊന്തതിരോഗം മരുന്നിനാല്‍ തീര്‍ത്തു RC. പുണ്ണില്‍ ഒരു കൊള്ളി വെക്കുന്നതു പോലേ AR. പുണ്ണില്‍ വെച്ചു കെട്ടുക a. med. പു. വറളും MM. the wound heals. — തീപ്പു. a scald. — ഉഷ്ണപ്പു. Syphilis. പുണ്ണന്‍ having sores = വ്രണമുള്ളവന്‍. പുണ്ണാക to become sore. — വായി പുണ്ണാക്കുക to salivate.
