paṇayam T. M. (പണ്യം or പണം 4.) 1. A bet, stake ചൂതില്‍ ഓരോ പ'ങ്ങള്‍ പ റഞ്ഞു Nal.; എന്തൊന്നു വെക്കുന്നിതു പ. DN. അവളെ പ. പറക, ചൂതിന്ന് ഒക്കവേ പ'ത്തി ലായി നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യം Nal. കലഹിച്ചു പ. പറ ഞ്ഞു KR. two birds trying who may be quickest (also ജയം പറക, വാതു etc.) ചൂതു പൊരു താന്‍ അസംഖ്യം പ'മായി Bhg. 2. a pledge, pawn കൊത്തുന്ന കത്തി പ'മാക്കൊല്ല prov.; പ. കണ്ടേ കൊടുക്കാവു KU.; കുഴല്‍ ൪ പണ ത്തിന്നു പ. വെച്ചു, തറവാട് എനക്കു പ. വെച്ചു TR. പ. നിറുത്തുക to seize a pledge for reprisal. പ. എടുക്ക V1. to redeem it. Kinds: വല്‍ പ. double the value of the money borrowed KU., തൊടു പ. (& ചൂണ്ടിപ്പ.) mortgage of grounds without handing them over, ചുരിപ., ജന്മപ. etc.

pirakkuγa 1. = വി — To mix, to rub into മീന്‍ മുറിച്ചു ഉപ്പു പിരക്കി വെച്ചു, ഉപ്പും മുളകും മഞ്ഞളും പിരക്കിയിടുക, വെക്ക No. (f. i. അച്ചാര്‍). 2. to set an elephant to work, drive him V1.; പിരക്കിതെളിക്ക Weṭṭ. to urge on cattle (with a shout), കന്നു പിരക്ക Palg. = തിരിക്കുക to turn them.

paṭṭam 5. S. (fr. പത്രം?) 1. A streak, tie, metal plate. 2. an ornament of the forehead, diadem, a string of jewels as worn by Rājas & idols നെററിപ്പ.; hence പ. കെട്ടുക to crown, ഭ്രാതാവെ പ. കെട്ടിച്ചു Mud. 3. high dignity, ordination & tonsure പ. വെട്ടുക, കൊ ടുക്ക. (കന്നിപ്പ. first tonsure, ൪ പ. the 4 lower orders, അഞ്ചു പ., ആറു പ. orders enabling to read the Epistles, the Gospels V1.). 4. a succession ൧൦൮ പ. are promised to Tāmūri KU. (108 വാഴ്ച). ൧൪ ഇന്ദ്രപ്പട്ടം മാറിവരുന്നേട ത്തോളം VyM. പട്ടക്കാരന്‍ (see also പട്ട) a priest, Nasr. — കുറുബാന്‍ പ. V1. a full priest. പട്ടച്ചാവല്‍ B. a pheasant (?) പട്ടച്ചോമാതിരി a Brahmanical dignity. പട്ടത്താന KR. a king's chief elephant. പട്ടത്താനം (സ്ഥാനം) a feast on the birthday of Gods (ദാനം?), an offering by Rājas. പട്ടബന്ധം coronation, Trav. പട്ടമിടുക (1. 2) to cut & polish gems; to form with sides & squares. പട്ടവാള്‍ a royal sword.

p/?/thu S. Broad (G. platys), ample. fem. പൃഥ്വീ the earth, (പൃഥ്വീശന്‍ VyM. landlord) = പൃഥിവി; also പൃഥ്വിയില്‍ വാണു പിറക്ക AR. incarnation. പൃഥുകം S. flattened rice (അവില്‍). വസ്ത്രാ ല്‍ പൃ. പിടിച്ചഴിച്ചു ഭക്ഷിച്ചു CC. പൃഥുകമുഷ്ടി കള്‍ നല്കി Bhg. പൃഥുരോമാവു S. scaly. പൃ'മം വിഴുങ്ങി Bhr. fish. പൃഥുരോമാശി S. a fish-eater, Bhr.

pāčči (C. പാചു breast-milk of a female) 1. = പാല്‍ in children's language (so also in T.) പാ. വരിക puberty of girls, vu.; in പഴ ന്പാച്ചി No.; മരപ്പാച്ചി palg. 2. N. pr. f. (I/?/awars & Tīyars).

Port. porco, A pig Vl. MC. — പോര്‍ക്കു പന്നി = നാട്ടുപന്നി.

par̀ayuγa T. M. (T. also പന്‍, Tu. പണ്‍, C. Tu. parasu, to bless). To say, speak, tell എന്നോടു & എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞു, എന്നോട് അ കാരിയം പറക വേണ്ടാ TP. I will have nothing to do with it. നിന്നെ പറയുന്നത് എന്തിനി Sil. why then accuse thee? നമ്മെ അസഭ്യങ്ങളായിട്ട് ഓരോന്നു പറഞ്ഞു TR. at me, against me. അടങ്ങിപ്പ. to mutter V1.; കച്ചോടങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും അവിടേ പറവാന്‍ ഇല്ല

5. Twisting, string; (mod. പിരി). പുരികുഴല്‍ curls, fine long hair വായ്പുള്ള പു. VCh. (of ladies). പു. എടുക്ക കാണട്ടേ ചന്ദ്രാ നനം RS. — പൊങ്ങും ചുരുതികള്‍ പു'ലാള്‍ RC. Sīta. നല്പുരികുഴലാള്‍ KR. ഉത്തമപ്പു' ലാള്‍ Bhr. പുരികൂന്തല്‍ id. പു. അഴിച്ചു കെട്ടി CC. the mother playing with her boy's hair. പുരിയുക aM. (=പിരിയുക I.). to curl, twist മയിര്‍പോയിപ്പുരിഞ്ഞെഴുന്നവ എല്ലാം RC. പുരിശംഖു a small shell.

pinasam S. A cold, catarrh മൂക്കൊ ഴുക്കു (പീ 2?); ozena പീ'രോഗം med. പീനാറി, see പീ. പീപ്പ Port. pipa, A cask, also പീപ്പക്കുററി. പീയൂഷം S. (പീനം). First milk, cream, ambrosia പീയൂഷതുല്യങ്ങള്‍ വാക്യങ്ങള്‍ AR. പീ യൂഷസമം വാക്യം ആത്മാവു വജ്രോപമം Bhr. ആനന്ദപീ'പാരസ്വരൂപമേ Mud. കണ്ണില്‍ നി റഞ്ഞുള്ള കാരുണ്യപീ'ത്താല്‍ കഴുകി CG. cooled them by mercy streaming from his eyes, നാ രിമാരായൊരു തോയത്തെക്കടഞ്ഞു — എടുത്തൊ രു പീ. ആയിതോ ഞാന്‍ CG.
