pōḍuγa (T. to throw, strike, Te. C. pōṭu a stab, C. poḍe to strike). 1. To strike, as a wedge into timber ആണികള്‍ പോടി പ്പോടി PT. 2. to put കൈകൊച്ചായുളളവന്‍ കങ്കണം പോടുന്പോലേ PT 1.; നാന്‍ ചൊന്ന തെല്ലാം ഒത്തുവരാ എങ്കില്‍ നാവറുത്ത പോടു വന്‍ Coratti.P. (= ഇടുക, കളക). പോട്ടുക in കുറിപോട്ടുക to put a mark on the forehead (= ഇടുക). അതു ഭദ്രം പോട്ടി it was frustrated. പോട്ട a rush-grass, bulrush. So., പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലു (used for mats).

parušam S. (പരുസ്സ് a knot). Knotty; rough, rugged, esp. harsh words പോരും പ. പറഞ്ഞതു Bhr., പോരും ഇനി പ' ങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞ തു Mud.; also of tragic speeches, that leave a deep impression.

(also കനക & —, കുന്തളന്പാല, the yellow fruit used to stupify fish), കള്ളിപ്പാ., കാക്ക പ്പാ. Gelonium or Cupania, കിളിതിന്നിപ്പാ., കടകപ്പാ. (& കൊടിപ്പാ., കൊടകപ്പാലരി Palg. Exh.) Echites pubescens, കരുട്ടുപാ. Tabernæ montana alternifolia, കൈക്കൊ ത്തന്‍ പാ. Rh. (നീര്‍കൈക്കൊ. a Euphorbia), തിരുനാമപ്പാ. Periploca tunicata, തൈ പ്പാ. (or ദൈവ—, തൈവപ്പാ). Echites scholaris, നിലന്പാ. (നീലാന്പാ B. palg.) Artemisia Madarasp., പഴമൂണിപ്പാ. Mimusops Kauki, വില്പാ. (T. വിഴുപാ.) Asclepias lactifera, വെണ്‍പാ. T. Nerium antidysent. or a Euphorbia, സൂചിപ്പാ. Periploca esculenta. Going, passing off (as നേരന്പോ.). പോ. മുട്ടിക്ക to shut up in a fort etc. നാരിമാര്‍ പോക്കിനെ തടുത്തു CG. prevented their going. നമ്മുടെ ജീവനും പോക്കുണ്ടാമേ CG. shall die. പോക്കടു ത്തു death is at hand. പോക്കു വെച്ചു ruin has set in (= ക്ഷയം തുടങ്ങി). ഫലത്തിന്‍റെ മ ര്യാദപോലേ ഉളള പോക്കും കഴിച്ചു പാട്ടം കെ ട്ടി TR. the customary deduction from produce = കഴിപ്പു . 2. way വെളളത്തിന്നു പോക്കില്ല no outlet. പോക്കൊരു കാണിമാത്രം കോടീ ല്ല നരേന്ദ്രനു Brhmd. did not swerve. പോക്കൊ രുമിച്ചു തേരില്‍ ഏറി Brhmd. കാരണ ന്മാര്‍ പോയ പോ. old ways or customs.

pōnda (T. = പന). A great fly ആല വല്ലത്തില്‍ പോ., പശുപ്പോന്ത, പോന്ത കടിച്ച പശു പോലേ. prov. പോന്തേന്‍ N. pr. m. (ഭഗവാന്‍ തേവന്‍?). പോം = പോകും. പോയ്തു = പോയതു. I.
