vēšam S. (വിഷ്). 1. Dress; mask, disguise വേ. ഇടുക, കെട്ടുക, വേ'ത്തെ കെട്ടിക്ക ളിച്ച നടന്‍ Bhg. വേ. ധരിക്ക, കളക, അഴിക്ക; വേ. തിരിഞ്ഞുള്ള ചാരജനങ്ങള്‍ Mud. spies in disguise. വേ. കാണിക്ക to act a part. വേ. മറെക്ക V2. വേ. മാറിപ്പോയ്ക്കൊള്‍ക KU. വേ. പകര്‍ന്നു ഭടന്‍ പോലേ ഗമിച്ചു KR. 2. the whole outward appearance, shape ബ്രാഹ്മണ വേ. etc. മായാവേ. പരിഗ്രഹിക്ക Bhg. to transform oneself. വേ. പകര്‍ന്നു കാണായി നടി Si Pu. the storm changed the whole aspect of the river. വേ'വും ചോരയില്‍ മുഴുകി Sk. wounded all over. — In Cpds. മുനിവേഷനാ യി (a God), ചാരുവേഷകളായ പുത്രിമാര്‍ KR. വേഷക്കാരന്‍ pompously dressed, in theatrical attire; masked. വേഷഛന്നനായി സഞ്ചരിക്ക Bhr. incognito. വേഷധാരി masked, a mimic; a hypocrite.

viḷā T. M. (C. belavu, C. Te. bēla, Beng. വില്വ, perh. വിള്‍). The wood-apple, Feronia elephantum S. ദധിഫലം; also വിളാര്‍മരം, വിളാന്പഴം; വിളാന്പശ & pḷāmpaša, its gum; also gum arabic. V1.

virayuγa T. M. Te. (C. Tu. biru tight, speed). To be eager, make haste പടെ ക്കായി വിരയവേണം TP. വിരഞ്ഞീവണ്ണം പറ ഞ്ഞു Bhg. (vu. വെരിഞ്ഞു). പന്ത്രണ്ടു തരം കുഷ്ഠം ഇളയാ വിരയ a. med. easily, quickly. സേ വിക്ക വിരിയ നീ Bhr. VN. വിരവു speed, haste. വി'വില്‍, — വിനോ ടു, — വോടേ eagerly, quickly, well.

varāham S. (L. verres). A hog; വരാ

varaṇḍuγa (T. വരന്‍റുക to sweep over the ground). So. To rake grass, weeds, etc hoe it up, harrow. Vl. വരണ്ടി 1. Palg. a rake, വരണ്ടിമരം a rake drawn by cattle. 2. No. a scraper to remove barnacles from the hull of a ship etc. വരത്തു (loc.) = വരുത്തു Coming കപ്പല്‍ വ. പോ ക്കായിരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണം Trav. വരത്തന്‍ (f. — ത്തി), — ത്താളി a stranger, uninvited guest V1.

Port.verruma, A gimlet (വരുമ, ബു ര്‍മ്മ), വെ. കൊണ്ടു തുളെക്ക. വെറുമത്തിടുക (No.) To smoothen a wall after it is chunamed. (വെറുമത്തു the polishing board).

varišṭam S. l.Superl. of വരം. The best അവനിസുരവ'ര്‍ VetC. അവര്‍ക്കു വ'ന്‍ ഞാന്‍ Nal. the chief, മുനിവരിഷ്ഠ KR. ബ്രഹ്മവിദ്വ രിഷ്ഠന്നു രണ്ടിന്നും ഭേദം ഇല്ല ChR. 2. Superl. of ഉരു the largest. വരീയസ്സ് Compar. f. i. ബ്രഹ്മവിദ്വരന്‍ ബ്ര' രീയാന്‍, ബ്ര'രിഷ്ഠന്‍ KeiN755.

vaḷḷam T. M. (Tu. C. large corn-measure). 1. A canoe, boat of one trunk, in size between തോണി & മഞ്ചി; വള്ളക്കാരന്‍,— ത്തുടര്‍‍, — പ്പടി, — പ്പലക, — പ്പാട്ടു etc. — വ'ത്തടി B. timber roughly out in shape of a canoe. 2. = വല്ലം, a large bamboo basket holding 200 — 400 പറ of rice. 3. a small measure നരന്തച്ചാറു മൂവ., ഇരിവ. ഉപ്പു a. med. (S. weight of 2 or 3 കുന്നി).

vina T. M. (Tu. ben; prh. C. Te. വിന്‍ to pay attention to). 1. Action, vu. മിന; exertion പടയില്‍ വിന പൊരുതു Mpl. അതില്‍ വിന വരാതേ ഉപേക്ഷ വന്നാല്‍ VyM. പട്ടര്‍ക്കു ണ്ടോ പടയും വിനയും prov. 2. sin തീവിന & its consequences, pain, misery എന്‍റെ വി. ദൈവം അറിയും vu. അല്ലലും വിനയും troubles. ഇരുവിന വന്നു കൂടി No. vu. (2 troubles etc.) misfortunes come not singly. തനുവിനകള്‍ അഴിവതിനു PT. pain. വിന എനക്കു ചേത യില്‍ മുഴുക്കവേ RC. grief. — ജനിപ്പൊരു വിന പ്പാടും CG. (വി): വിനതം S. bent. വിനത N. pr. Garuḍa's mother KR.
