sāmam S. (ശമ). 1. Conciliation, one of the 4 expedients (ഉപായം 136.). സാമങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടു തെളിഞ്ഞു Sah. സാമപൂ൪വ്വം പറഞ്ഞു AR. = സാന്ത്വം. 2. the 3rd Vēda മാമുനിമാര്‍ എല്ലാം നാന്മുകനോടൊത്തു സാമത്തിന്‍ ഗാന ത്തെ ചെയ്താര്‍ CG. 3. (സ, ആമം) സാമമാ യിസരിക്ക Nid. undigested evacuation, opp. നിരാമം. സാമവേദി S. skilled in സാമവേദം. സാമശേഷം S. the 3 last expedients, സാ'ത്തി ന്നാളല്ല Sah. (see foll.). സാമാദികള്‍ (1) VyM. = സാമദാനഭേദദണ്ഡ ങ്ങള്‍; also സാമാദ്യുപായങ്ങള്‍ Bhg. സാമോപായികന്മാര്‍ PT. who try conciliation. — vu. സാമോപായക്കാര്‍ = ശാന്ത വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു വശീകരിക്കുന്നവര്‍.

A sacrifice, chiefly of clarified butter, oblation to Agni കഴിക്ക, മു ററുക, സമാപ്തി വരുതിതുക to offer it, മുടക്കുക AR. to hinder. ഓമം പുലന്പി ഇന്ദ്രജിത്തു പുകു ന്താന്‍ RC. commenced. ശേഷഹോ. a sacrifice essential to a Nambūδiri's marriage. ഹോമകുണ്ഡം S. the firehole on the altar. ഹോ'ത്തില്‍ ഇട്ടു KN. (Sankara Āchārya, the corpse of his mother). ഹോമക്കുററി Palg., vu. ഓമക്കുററി a wooden post in the middle of old tanks (as a water- gauge?). ഹോമദ്രവ്യം S. the articles used in sacrifice, esp. ghee സാന്പ്രാണി മുതലായ ഹോമസാ ധനങ്ങള്‍ id.
