kaṭṭa T. M. (C. Te. ഗഡ്ഡ fr. ഗഡു stout, thick). 1. Lump, mass, ചോരക്കട്ട coagulated blood. കട്ടവെക്ക, പിടിക്ക to concrete as തയിര്‍ etc. തീക്കട്ടകഴുകിയാല്‍ കരിക്കട്ട prov. 2. = മ ണ്‍കട്ട clod, sod. ഉരുട്ടുക ക., പെട്ടിക്ക. (for building). 3. clog, കട്ടച്ചെരിപ്പു Palg. = മെതിയടി. Hence: കട്ടക്കാര a thorny plant. കട്ടക്കാണം 1. the right of breaking the ground = തൂശിക്കാണം, കൊഴു അവകാശം. 2. a tenure of ricefields unfavorable to the cultivator, hence called കഷ്ടക്കാണം. കട്ടക്കിടാവു newborn infant തന്‍ ക. മായി തുഷ്ട യായ്നിന്നാള്‍ CG. അരയന്നക്ക. പോലെ RS. (see ചോരക്കുഞ്ഞു). കട്ടക്കോല്‍ instrument for breaking the clods after sowing, consisting of the handle, വ ടി, and the block, കട്ടക്കുട്ടി, കട്ടോടം. കട്ടങ്ങം So. tie on the neck of oxen. കട്ടപ്പാര a wooden spade. കട്ടറ (കട്ടുകറ) rust, ക. പിടിക്ക to rust.

kur̀aḍụ T. = കുരടു q.v. Piece of wood, as for shoes, പാതകുറടു = മെതിയടി. കുറട്ട 1. nut, kernel = അണ്ടി. 2. knuckle of hand or foot.

čerippu T. M. (C. Te. Tu. ചെപ്പു, കെര്‍പ്പു) 1. Sandals, loose shoes (മെതിയടി). ചെ. കാലോടു കൂടേ അകായില്‍ കടന്നു TR. in a temple. 2. foundation, ചെ. ഇടുക to lay it B., gen. ചെരിപ്പടി; projection in a foundation. 3., (ചെരിയുക) reclining; a leveller for paddy fields. ചെരിപ്പടി 1. sole ചെരിപ്പടിത്തോല്‍ V1. മുണ്ടു ചെ. ക്ക് ഇട്ടു പറിക്കുന്നു wears the cloth down to the heels. ചെരിപ്പുകുത്തി shoemaker, vu. ചെരിപ്പൂത്തി, also ചെരിപ്പുകാരന്‍ V1. (which is also a shoe. wearer).

pād/?/am S. (പദ്). 1. The foot, used in swearing ഇന്ദുകലാധര പാദത്താണ,ഗുരുപാദാം ബുജയുഗ്മത്താണ CrArj.; പാ'ത്തെ പിടിക്ക to worship, throw oneself on one's mercy, so പാ ദത്തിങ്കല്‍ വീഴുക = കാല്‍, അടി. 2. the base of a hill, pillar. 3. a quarter പാദാംശം, hence section of a work, as in Nal., Vētāḷa Charitam etc. പാദക്കുരടു So. wood-sandals. പാദകൂടം S. (2) the foot of a pillar. പാദഗ്രഹണം S. = കാല്‍പിടിക്ക. പാദചാരം S. going on foot പാ'രേണ വന്നതു = കാല്‍നടയാല്‍ AR. പാദചിന്തനം S. adoring a person KM. പാദജന്‍ S. a Sūdra. AR. പാദസരം, (T. — ച —) a tinkling foot-ornament worn by paṭṭar-girls. പാദസരി S. a foot-sore കാലിന്‍റെ അടിക്കുളള പാ. എന്ന ദീനശാന്തിക്കു med. പാദസേവ S. = പാദശുശ്രൂഷ. പാദസേവകന്‍ AR. personally devoted. പാദാതന്‍ = പദാതി a foot-soldier. പാദാദികേശം S. from foot to head, കേശാദി പാദവും പാ'വും Si Pu. പാദാനുചരന്‍ S. a follower തല്‍ പാ'നായ്ഭ വിക്ക AR. പാദികം S. (3) amounting to one-fourth (പാതിക). പാദുകം (in S. rather — ക) a shoe, chiefly a wooden one പാ. ചെന്നു ശിരസ്സിങ്കലാമാറു പാഞ്ഞു കരേറുന്ന കാലം ഇപ്പോള്‍ CG. = മെതിയടി AR. പാദുകക്കല്ലു the visible part of the foundation of a house (also ചെരിപ്പുകല്ലു), projection പാദുകക്കൊട്ടില്‍ പടിഞ്ഞാററ പ്പുര TR. — Tdbh. പാതകം 643. പാദോദകം S. foot-water (= പാദതീര്‍ത്ഥം); any dwelling place of Pushpakas KN. പാദ്യം S. water to wash the feet, as of guests. Bhg.

bhāṭṭam S. (ഭട്ട). A division of the old Kēraḷa Brahmans (2 others are പ്രഭാകരം & വ്യാകരണം) derived from one ഭാട്ടപ്രഭാകര വ്യാകരണന്‍, whose shoe (മെതിയടി) is said to be preserved in തൃക്കണ്ണാപുരം, തൃക്കല്‍പുറം KU. (others = പാട്ടം usufruction). ഭാട്ടന്‍ S. a follower of ഭട്ടന്‍. ഭാഡ (loc.) = ബാഡ.

maδiyam (T. = മതി 5., Tdbh. of മദ്ധ്യം). The centre; pivot of a native door; door hinge ഇടു മതിയം; കീഴ്മതിയം 254, മേല്‍മതിയം; also = മെതിയം.

meδi (T. മി, C. Te. med & meṭ, Tdbh. of മൃദ്). 1. Treading on; treading out grain കൊയ്ത്തും മിതിയും V1. 2. = മെതിമരം f. i. a threshing machine, മെതിയും മുക്കാലിക്കാലും വലിച്ചു MR. (parts of ഏത്തം). മെതിക്ക 1. To tread as loam, trample. — CV. പാഷാണം മെതിപ്പിച്ചു Sk. 2. to thrash നെ ല്ലു മെതിച്ചതും മെതിക്കാത്തതും MR. — CV. ൧൦൦൦ കററ മെതിപ്പിച്ചു മണിയാക്കി MR. 3. = മെ തിയുക to be assuaged, ദീനം മെതിച്ചു കാണു ന്നു vu. = ശമിച്ചു. മെതിക്കല്ലു V1. a door-lintel. മെതിമരം the step-board near or over a well, treadle of a weaver's loom etc. മെതിയം 1. a plank over the door (see മതിയം). 2. pieces of wood by which oars are kept in their places V1. മെതിയടി wooden shoes as worn by Brahmans & devotees KU. നല്ല മെ. തൊട്ടു പദങ്ങളില്‍ KR. — സൂചിമെ. slippers with nails or needles in them for austerities' sake. മെതിയാല V1. a kind of mortar. മെതിയുക (= മൃദുവാക?). To be bruised പാ തി മെതിഞ്ഞൊരു താംബൂലം തന്നുടെ വായ്കൊ ണ്ടു നല്കി CG. തേങ്ങ അരെച്ചിട്ടു മെതിഞ്ഞില്ല No. bruised but not sufficiently ground.
