čerippu T. M. (C. Te. Tu. ചെപ്പു, കെര്‍പ്പു) 1. čūḍi (fr. foll.? H. jeauḍi? Jute?) Twine, string, chiefly of Coir രണ്ടു തലെക്കും ചൂടി വ രിഞ്ഞു TR. (മാട്ടുവച്ചൂ. a strong, തെക്കന്‍ചൂ. an inferior kind) So. comm. ചൂടിക്കയര്‍.

A slap on the head ചൊ. കൊണ്ടാലും prov. — met. തലെക്ക ഒരു ചൊ. disappointment; ചൊട്ടുപിണഞ്ഞു, ഒരു ചൊ. കിഴിഞ്ഞു (superst.) a curse, disease, etc. has alighted on him. 2. = പൊട്ടു mark on the forehead with Sandal paste etc. ചൊട്ടുതൊടുക = തൊട്ടുകുറി; kinds ഇരുവയിനാടന്‍ ചൊ. TP. etc. Hence: ചൊട്ടുകത്തി Mpl. = ചൊട്ടവാള്‍. ചൊട്ടുക (C. സൊണ, T. So. to drop, rain) 1. To rap with the knuckles, knock with the finger, chiefly on the head; also ചൊട്ടി നോ ക്ക No. = കൊട്ടിനോക്ക. 2. to be disappointed. വ യറുചൊട്ടിപ്പോയി abortus. കാര്യം ചൊ. proved abortive. തമ്മില്‍ ചൊ. they fell out.
