čāṇāǹ T. M. (old ചാന്‍റാന്‍ Syr. doc.) A caste of palmyra cultivators in Travancore (= തീയര്‍, ൦രംഴവര്‍).

čaδa (C. ശദെ, ജജ്ജൂ) A bruise, ചത ചെയ്ക = ചതെക്ക f.i. അമ്മാമന്‍റെ കഴുത്തറുത്തു ചത ചെയ്തന്നീര്‍ പിഴിഞ്ഞാദരാല്‍ Manj. ചതയുക v. n. To be bruised, squashed കൈ കള്‍ മലയുടെ കീഴീയി ഞെരിഞ്ഞു ചതഞ്ഞിതു UR.— ചതയപ്പെടുക V1. to be humbled. ചതെക്ക v.a. To squash, crush, pound, bray (= ഇടിക്ക). ഇവ ചതെച്ചു എണ്ണയിലിട്ടു MM. VN. S. Moving, shaking, tremulous (ചല്‍ = ചര്‍) f. i. ചലഹൃദയന്‍ Mud. — hence ചഞ്ചലം. ചലനം agitation ചിത്തിന്‍ ച. സമുദ്രത്തില്‍ ഊര്‍മ്മിപോല്‍ വികാരമാം Bhg. den V. ചലിക്ക 1. to move, shake, totter ചലിക്കു ന്ന വെള്ളത്തില്‍ ഓളം പോലെ KR. ചിത്തം ചലിച്ചു Bhr. തെരുതെര ചലിക്കുന്ന തോള്‍ Bhr. a bad omen. വാമോരു ചലിച്ചു KR. a good omen. 2. Palg. T. (see ചല്ലട) = അ രിക്ക f.i. മണല്‍ ച'ച്ചെടുക്ക to sift sand. 3. to become tired നടന്നു ച'ച്ചു Palg. = തളര്‍ന്നു. VN. ചലിപ്പു 1. shaking ച. വന്നതില്ല അരിവ രനു RC. 2. fatigue; a hint given by boatmen V1. ചലിപ്പന്‍ So. a class of palankin-bearers. čaviṭṭuγa (T. ചവട്ടുക v. a. of prec. to render flexible) 1. To kick പശുക്കളെ കാ ലാല്‍ ചവിട്ടിയ ദോഷം ഭവിക്കട്ടേ KR. a curse. കാല്‍മേല്‍ ച'ല്ല, ചവിട്ടിയാല്‍ കടിക്കാത്ത പാ ന്പില്ല prov. ചവിട്ടിക്കളക kick out. ചവിട്ടിത്തു റിക്ക (low) — to recoil, reverberate. 2. to tread. ചവിട്ടി ഉഴിയുക KU. milling, the fencing-master to rub an ointment into the body by treading it all over (= make flexible, ചവ ളുക). ചാപം ചവിട്ടി കുലെപ്പാന്‍ KR. ആ വീ ട്ടില്‍ ചവിട്ടിയില്ല put no foot into it. നിലം ചവിട്ടാതെ സേവിക്ക a med. very early, still in bed. CV. ചവിട്ടിക്ക f.i. താമൂതിരിയെകൊണ്ടു കൊ ച്ചിക്കോട്ടയുടെ ഓടു ച'ച്ചേക്കുന്നുണ്ടു KU. give it you to tread upon. čuḷḷal V2. A chip, fuel-stick. ചുള്ളി T. M. (Tu. തു —) 1. dry spray, sprig, brush-wood കിടാക്കള്‍ ചു. യും വടിയും ക ളിക്കും TP. 2. a thorny plant; കരച്ചു. Randia dumetorum, വയല്‍ച്ചു. Tribulus lanuginosus or Barleria, നീര്‍ച്ചു. Ruellia obovata. ചുള്ളിക്കാടു N. pr. a portion of the original Calicut territory KU.; (2). ചുള്ളിക്കൊഴു a small ploughshare. ചുള്ളിക്കോല്‍ a bavin. ചുള്ളു So. what is little, trifling (C. സു — lie, ജൊ — unsubstantial).

čarmam S. (G. derma) 1. Skin സര്‍പ്പച. നന്നായി ഉണക്കി വെച്ചു Bhg.; leather. 2. a shield വാളും നല്‍ചര്‍മ്മവും CG. ചര്‍മ്മകാരന്‍ a currier, shoemaker. ചര്‍മ്മപാദുക a shoe (ചര്‍മ്മപാദം V1.) ചര്‍മ്മലന്ത a med. shrub, ചര്‍മ്മകശ.

čīr 1. (C. Te. ചീരു scratch = കീറു, C. Te. ജീര്‍, ശീര്‍ line) A line. ഒരു ചീര്‍ പാടുക Palg. to chant a line. — ചീര്‍വാലന്‍ a striped royal tiger. 2. T.
