čuṇa T. M. So. The down on a fruit; sensitiveness; activity. — ചുണകെട്ടവന്‍ one past shame. — ചുണയന്‍ touchy, distrustful V1. ചുണെക്ക So. to have the skin irritated, to be touchy (= വെറുളുക V2.)

čuṇaṇṇụ T. M. (C. Te. ചുക്കി) speck, fr. ചുണ) 1. Variegated surface, soft down as on young palm leaves; scales of fish. činakkuγa (C. ജിനുഗു, Te. സണുഗു) 1. To mutter, neigh. തൊണ്ട ചിന ക്കി hemmed. ചിനക്കിയിട്ടുപോയി food ejected by the irritation of the wind-pipe. 2. to cry ho! as at certain festivals (in സങ്കേതം). 3. No. പുലയര്‍, നായര്‍ etc. ചിനെക്ക = ഒച്ച കാട്ടുക uttering a warning cry to avoid pollution (Pulayars crying ഏയാ No., ഹോആ So.; higher castes ഹഹാ, ഹൂഹാ, ഹോഹോ etc.) II.

CV. ചുവത്തുക to make red (only po. of the eye) കണ്‍ ചു., കണ്മുന ചാലച്ചുവത്തി CG. കണ്ണും ചുവത്തി വിറെച്ചു Bhr. ഗാത്രം വിറെച്ചു ക ണ്ണും ചുവത്തി കൊണ്ടു Mud. čukkụ T. M. C. Te. (shrivel = ചുരുക്കു, or Tdbh. ശുഷ്കം) Dry, as ചുക്കടക്ക, ചുക്കങ്കായി of plantains. കുറുക്കുല നെയ്യില്‍ വറുത്ത ചുക്കാ ന്പോള്‍ വാങ്ങി MM. ചുക്കാക വെന്തു a med. 2.dried ginger. ചുക്കുവെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു med. prov. ഭാരം ചക്കെക്കു പലം ചുക്കു prov. (in praise of dry ginger). S. what is worthless. Hence: ചുക്കുക, ക്കി to grow dry, shrivel (also ചുങ്ങുക).
