tālparyam S. (തല്പര) 1. Having in view, aiming at; design, object, ഈ പദ ത്തിന്‍റെ താ. ആവിതു the meaning. തത്വജ്ഞാ നത്തിന്‍ താ. Bhr. 2. earnest purpose, diligent effort, കാണേണം എന്നു വളരേ താ. ആ കുന്നു TR. താല്‍പര്യപ്പെടുക to purpose, endeavour. മക്ക ള്‍ മാത്രം കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു താ'ട്ടു wished particularly. ചെയ്വാന്‍ താ'ട്ടു MR. (mod.), അ തിനു ഏറത്താ'ടുന്നില്ല to like.

tana T. a M. (C. Tu. തനക) Measure ഇ ത്തനനാളും (=ഇത്ര), അത്തനയിലേ നളന്‍ അ ടുത്താന്‍ RC. (= then). തനം 1. T. M. Te. C. = തന്മ nature f.i. വേ ണ്ടാതനം 2. Tdbh. ധനം, also തനവാതി riches V1. തനതു (see തന്‍) his own. ത. വക personal property. ത. ജന്മമായി TR., ത. നാടു, ത. ഭാഷ So. തനത, തനിതു = സന്നതു A Sunnud.

toṇḍụ 1. T. So. A log of wood = തട്ട. 2. the fibrous husk of a cocoanut, the rind of a pomegranate, ചുരങ്ങത്തൊണ്ടു etc.; an empty cocoanut കഴന്പെടുത്താല്‍ തൊ.; തൊണ്ടും പേടും (തേങ്ങത്തൊണ്ടു). പോയെങ്കില്‍ ൧ഠഠഠ തൊണ്ടു prov. (So. തൊണ്ണന്‍) — a cup made of a cocoanut-shell. 3. So. a passage between two mud-walls. (=തോടു). തൊണ്ടെകല്പു N. pr. The northern boundary of Tuḷu, തൊ. പിടിച്ചു തോവാളക്കട്ടിളയോ ളം പരശുരാമന്‍റെ നാടു, തൊണ്ടെകല്പു പി ടിച്ചു കാഞ്ഞിരോട്ടു കടവോളം തുളുനാടു KU. (Gōkarṇa or a more southern promontory). തൊണ്ടിര (ഇരു) = ഇരെച്ചു കെട്ടിയ തൊണ്ടു No. a swimming apparatus.

tai M. Tu. (Te. തേഗ, C. സസി Tdbh., സസ്യം) Shoot, any young tree, pl. തൈകള്‍, തയ്യുകള്‍. Kinds: മാന്തൈ etc., esp. കുഴിത്തൈ, തൈത്തെങ്ങു a cocoanut-plant in the first 3 years. തൈക്കുണ്ടു കുഴിപ്പിക്ക, തൈ പാവി, ത യ്യുകള്‍ വെപ്പിക്ക, തൈ രക്ഷക്കുവേണ്ടി തന്നേ ഏല്പിച്ചു MR. തൈക്കൂടു rails or a fence for the protection of one cocoanut-plant. തൈക്കൂറു B. value of trees planted. തൈക്കൊങ്ക 1. Bhr. a young breast, മൈക്കണ്ണി തന്നുടെ തൈ. CG. 2. a young girl. തൈമരം V1. the keel of a ship. II.

tumb/?/uru S. N. pr., A Gandharva, നാ രദന്‍ തു. സാകം ചിരിക്കയും Bhr. തുമ്മനേ Palg. (അന & Inf. of foll., T. also to revive, aC. ദൊമ്മളിസു to frisk) Briskly (f.i. നടക്ക, തെളിക്ക).

tīyaǹ, a M. തീവന്‍ (Port. Fr. Tives) An islander, the caste of the palm-cultivators, toddy-drawers, sugar-makers, etc. The ൦രംഴ വര്‍ are in fact the same caste, & both are said to have come with the South-tree (തെങ്ങു) from Ceylon KU. — fem. തീയത്തി & തീയപ്പെണ്ണു TR. തീയര്‍ ആദിയായിട്ടുള്ള കീഴ്ജാതികള്‍ TR.; the caste rose in dignity by serving the English at Tellicherry. പുതിയ തീ. a Tīyar-bridegroom. തീയത്താളന്‍ an islander, (see തീവു). തീയന്‍ വാഴ the Maledive-plantain.
