tēmānam M. C. Tu. (T. തേയ്മ —, fr. തേയുക) Waste from rubbing; loss in assaying metals ഗുളികത്തേമാനം TR. (of coiners); waste of goldsmith = രായിട്ടു പോകുന്നതു; wear & tear. — തേമാനപ്പെടുക to wear out by long use f. i. മോതിരം = തഴയുക; തേ'ട്ട മാര്‍ഗ്ഗം a dying-out-religion.

tumbi T. M. C. Tu. (Te. തുമ്മദ). A black beetle, flying at night. പൊന്നാന്തു. a cushlady. ആനത്തുന്പി loc. a large kind of dragon-fly. തു. പറക്കുംപ്രകാരം Bhr.; (a butter-fly MC.); തു. തുളെച്ച മുള a bamboo pierced by it & sounding like an Ӕolian harp, (തു. ത്തുള). Hence: തുന്പിക്കൈ T. M. C. (po. തുന്പിക്കരം ത ന്നേ തലോടി CG.) an elephant's trunk, lit. 'the sneezing hand'. തു. യോടുളവായ പൈതല്‍ Anj. Gaṇapati. തു. ചുരുട്ടും MC. (in running). തുന്പിത്താന്‍ V1. 2. & തുന്പിത്താരം B. a long trumpet, (see താര) = ൦രംററക്കുഴല്‍. തുന്പിപ്പച്ച a kind of Centaurium, which produces sneezing.

tendala, see തന്തല, (prh. southern head?) in: തെന്തലക്കൊട്ടി Crotolaria retusa. Kinds: കാ ട്ടു — Cr. juncea, നെല്ലു — Cr. laburnifolia, പേത്തെ. Cr. verrucosa, വലിയ — Cr. quinquefolia, Rh. വെണ്‍തെ. തെന്തിനാതിനാതിനെന്നു പാട്ടുമവള്‍ പാടി, see തന്തി —

tarṇam S. (തരുണം). & — കം A calf. തര്‍ണ്ണകപാലന്‍ Sah. a calf-herd.

tôṇgal (= തൊങ്ങല്‍). Drapery തോ' ലും തിരകളും Nal. മണിത്തോങ്കല്‍ SiPu. of a bed; plumage, pendulous ornament ഉമ്മത്തവും തോ'ലും തിരകളും Bhr. പീശ്ശാങ്കത്തിയുറയുടെ തോങ്കല്‍ a tassel of leather-stripes, toothpick, etc. dangling from the sheath of a knife. (Chēranāḍu).

toḷḷu (cavity?) A maund of rice, gram, etc. = മൂട (loc.)

tūṇṇūγa (v. n. of തൂക്കുക) 1. To hang. ത്രാസു ശരിയായി തൂങ്ങി Arb. hung even. പിടി ച്ചു തൂങ്ങുന്നു രഥത്തിനെ ചിലര്‍ KR. so as to detain the chariot. — to be suspended, dangle, എല്ലു തൂങ്ങി Bhr. (of an old man). അടുത്തു തൂങ്ങി യും, തൂങ്ങിത്തടുക്ക Bhr. to lean forward in fencing, വാങ്ങിയും നീങ്ങിയും തൂങ്ങിയടുക്കയും PatR. തൂങ്ങിമരിച്ചു = ഞേന്നു So. 2. to be weighed. അന്ന് ഏറത്തൂങ്ങിയതു സത്യം Bhr. when Brahma weighed truth & untruth, the former weighed more. ആ മാംസം പ്രാവിന്നു ശരിയാ യി തൂങ്ങാതേ Arb. 3. T. Te. to be drowsy, to sleep. VN. തൂങ്ങല്‍ hanging, inclination, reliance, drowsiness.
