tāḷi T. M. (താള്‍) 1. A creeper, the leaves of which are used in cleansing the head before bathing or in washing off the oil rubbed on the body, താ'യും തേച്ചു തല ഒലുന്പി, താ'ത്തരി തട്ടി TP. esp. ഏച്ചില്‍ത്താ. 2. നാലു താളി or 4 തോല്‍ plants used as signs of an interdict, തിരു മുടിത്താളി വെച്ചു വിരോധിച്ചു TR.; വെള്ളില etc. 3. S.( താലം, താലി) Corypha umbraculifera (C. താളെ, Te. താഡു). Kinds: ഞണ്ണന്താളി Cymbidium ovatum, ഉത്തമ ത്താ. Convolvulus gemellus, ചെറുപ്പെറുകത്താ. a. med., തിരുതാ. Convolvulus maximus (GP 65. തിരുതാളികള്‍ രണ്ടും, prh. with വെന്തിരുതാളി a white-blossomed variety), തിരുമുടിത്താ. (see above 2. a Convolv.), തേവതാ. & ദേവതാ. Andropogon serratus. (തേ. ഇടിച്ചു പിഴിഞ്ഞ നീര്‍ a. med.), ത്രിപന്തിത്താ. a three-ribbed Convolvulus-leaf, നറുന്താ. GP 65., നൂലിത്താ. Antidesma alexiteria, നെല്ലിത്താ. Aeschynomene Ind., പണി ത്താ. (serves to rub cows with), പാടത്താ. GP 65., പൂത്താ. (= ആന്പല്‍), പെരുന്താ., വട്ട ത്താ. Rottlera dicocca, വെട്ടിത്താ. q. v., വെണ്‍തി രുതാ. Ipomœa setosa, വേരില്ലാത്താളി (= ത ലനീളി). Hence: താളിപ്പന (3) the Talipot tree, താളിയോ ല its leaf. താളിപ്പുല്ലു Tradescantia malab. or Commelina nudiflora. താളിമാതളം (S. ദാസിമം) pomegranate GP 67., a. med., താ. ഏഴിലന്പാലയും KR. (mod. ഉറു മാന്പഴം).

tōyam S. (തോയുക) Water. തോയധരം, തോയദം a cloud. തോയധി the sea, യൌവനത്തിങ്കല്‍ ഭവതോ യധിയതില്‍ വീഴും VCh. തോയാകരം id. Bhg. II.

tāra S. (സ്തര്‍) 1. A star. താരാപതി, താരേ ശന്‍ the moon. 2. T. M. (താരം 2) a large trumpet, ഊതും താര, താളം താരയും Pay. 3. Tdbh., ധാര, pouring on one കൊഴുപ്പനീരും പാലും കൂട്ടിത്താര ഇടുക a. med.; താരമുറിയാതേ Ti, incessantly, uninterruptedly, as showers, firing. 4. (ധാര?) marks or lines drawn on wood (നൂത ്താര; വണ്ടിത്താര Palg. wheel-ruts, വ. കാ ണ്മാന്‍ പോക after the തേരോട്ടം in Koḍumb/?/ is over) & ornamental incisions (= താറു 3).

tūma T. M. (&തുയ്മ, see തൂ) 1. Purity പു ഞ്ചിപിത്തൂമ, മുഖത്തിന്‍തൂമകെടും CG.(through weeping). പഞ്ചതാരെക്കു തു മ വന്നു refined. മര ത്തിന്നു തൂമ വരുത്തുക to improve, straighten V1. 2. perfection. തൂമയാലേ neatly. തൂമയോ ടര്‍ജ്ജുനന്‍ എതിര്‍ത്തു Bhr. Mud. (often expl.) തൂമപ്പെടുക to grow fine, succeed ഇതൊട്ടും തൂ മപ്പെടാത്തൊഴില്‍ RC.

taḷiγa T. M. C. (തളം) Plate to measure out boiled rice in temples, metal plate or dish turned up at the rim, ത. യില്‍ ഉണ്ടാലും prov.; വെളളിത്ത. പൊടി തുടച്ചു TP.; മണിമയമായ ത. യില്‍ ഉണ്ണും KR.

teṇḍam T.M. = ദണ്ഡം, Trouble, a fine V1. — തെണ്ടമായി നല്കിനചേല CG. as punishment. തെണ്ടന്‍, (T. തണ്ടന്‍) 1. a king, as holding the sceptre; a giant V2. 2.
