tuṇḍam T. M. C. Te. & തുണ്ടു 5. (തു ണി) A piece, bit, slice. തു'ങ്ങളാക്കി MC. tore to pieces. ചേര തിന്നുന്ന നാട്ടില്‍ ചെന്നാല്‍ നടു ത്തുണ്ടം തിന്നോളു prov. ഒാലത്തുണ്ടം a shred of leaf. Hence: തുണ്ടന്‍ Te. C. Tu. No. insolent. തുണ്ടന്മാ രെ കുടക്കൂടി രാജ്യത്ത് അന൪ത്ഥം കാട്ടുക TR. to join the rebels. തുണ്ടത്തരം കാട്ടുക TR. to behave insolently (തുണ്ടിരി V1., T. തുണ്ടരിക്കം, Te. — കമു). denV. തുണ്ടിക്ക 1. to cut to pieces, മെയ്ക്കൊണ്ടു തു' ച്ച ശകലങ്ങള്‍, വാരണങ്ങള്‍ തുണ്ടിച്ചു RC. വെട്ടുകള്‍കൊണ്ടു തുണ്ടിച്ചു മുടക്കയും Bhr. to obstruct the way by slaughtered elephants. 2. cut off, as the throat, കണ്ഠത്തെ ഖണ്ഡിച്ചു തുണ്ടിച്ചു CG. തുണ്ടുഞായം contradictory words — തു. ക്കാരന്‍ of a wrangling, capricious spirit, (തുണ്ടത്ത രം). തുണ്ടുചീട്ടു a temporary receipt, as for part of rent or taxes, അധികാരി കൊടുത്തു തുണ്ടു ശീട്ടു MR. തുണ്ടു —, തുണ്ടംപറന്പു No. a diminished compound.

tiraṭṭu T. M. (തിരള്‍) 1. Assemblage; abstract of accounts. മുളകു ചാര്‍ത്തി വന്ന ഒട്ടു ക്കുള്ള തി. TR. the sum total, also തിരട്ടു ക ണക്കു adding up a sum. കുറുന്തിരട്ടു a short abstract. 2. തിരട്ടുകഞ്ഞി, തി'കുളി etc., what refers to the first menstruation; (തിരട്ടുകല്യാ ണം = വയസ്സറിയിക്കും കല്യാണം). തിരട്ടുക 1. So. to ball up, (= തിരയു 1.). 2. തി രട്ടിവെക്ക to perform a ceremony for a girl of 5-6 years, in preparation of marriage (putting her aside, as if for the first menstruation).

To be distended, stout; തുടുതുട (= തുടര), incessantly, ശരനിരയാല്‍ തു. പൊഴിന്തനന്‍ തു. വള൪ ശരമാരി RC.; തു. കണ്ണീ൪ ഒഴുകി KR.; തു. വന്ന രുധിരം Bhr. തുടുക്കെന plump (= തുടം), പാദത്തെ തു. ക്കണ്ടു Bhr.; തു. ക്കാണായിതു തുട CC.; തുടുക്കെനവേ നടക്കും RC. closely; also as Verb: തുടുതുട ക്കിയും മദിച്ചു Bhr 8. — (തുടുക്കു T. insolence). tīkšṇam S. (= തിഗ്മം) Sharp. തീക്ഷ്ണ ഖള്‍ഗം PT.; തീക്ഷണവിജ്ഞാനാസിനാ ഛേദിക്ക Bhg.; തീ'നായുള്ള മൌര്യന്‍ Mud.; തീ'മാം തേജ സ്സോടും Bhr. തീക്ഷ്ണദണ്ഡന്‍ AR. a severe master. തീക്ഷ്ണരസം saltpetre, Mud. — Also തീക്ഷണം (as തീക്ഷണഗന്ധങ്ങളാം വില്വം Nal.; തീ' മായുള്ള കത്തിയെ നക്കുന്നു, തീ'മാകും വണ്ണം ശോഭിക്കും KR.) as it were 'quick like fire'.

toḍukka T. M. (C. Tu. Te. chiefly to dress) 1. v. a. of തൊടുക 3. To bring into contact, put together വാരിധിയില്‍ വഞ്ചിറ തൊടു ത്തു RS.; to put on പുഷ്പംകൊണ്ടു മാല്യം തൊ. Bhr. മാലകള്‍ ചാലത്തൊടുത്താര്‍ CG., കണ്ണില്‍ ഇറുന്പു തൊ. TP.—to seize വാള്‍ കൈയില്‍ തൊ. VilvP. 2. to put the arrow on the bow (see തുട 1.) അന്പും തൊടുത്തു KR. കഴുത്തിന്നു നേരെ Bhr. to aim at. തുടുത്ത പകഴി RC. dart-looks SiPu. 3. to commence a work. അങ്കം തൊടുത്തു CG., അവനോട് അടല്‍ തൊടുത്തു. toṭṭū T. M. (C. Tu. തൊട്ടു, prob. fr. തൊല്‍). 1. The pedicle of a leaf, a bunch of flowers പൂന്തൊത്തു. 2. a nipple കുളുര്‍മുലത്തൊ ത്തു പുല്കി Bhr., തൊത്തായകൊങ്ക CG.— Similar prominent appendages, as the rings that hold the ramrod, that join coins to a necklace (തൊ ത്തു വെച്ച് വില്ലിട്ട പൊന്‍, പൊന്മണിത്തൊത്തു TR.), that hold ഞാലി or പാററ. tuǹbụ (തുനി C Te., തുന്പു C. footstalk, തുബബു to be found out) 1. An extremity, end of a rope or string കൊന്പിന്‍റെ,ചെവിയുടെ തുന്പു MC. തു. കൊടുക്ക to give a handle, തു. പിടിക്ക to get into a discussion. 2. clue, trace. ഉണ്ടാമതിനുള്ള തു. CC. get a clue. ഇതി ന്‍റെ തു. അറിവാന്‍ TR. to ferret it out. qs. തു. അറിയാതേ പറഞ്ഞു spoke not to the purpose, got adrift. വീടു ചുട്ട ആള്‍ വഴിപോലേ തുന്പാ യിട്ടില്ല TR. could not be found out. ഇല്ലാത്ത തു. കള്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കി by false evidences. അതി ന്‍റെ നേരും വഴിയും തുന്പും വിസ്മരിക്കാതേ TR.; കട്ട മുതല്‍ അവന്‍റെ കൈവശമുള്ളപ്രകാരം തു ന്പു കിട്ടി Arb. articles were traced to him. അ തിന്‍റെ ആളെ തുന്പുനോക്കി TR. tried to find out the guilty person. തുന്പുണ്ടാക്കി proved. 3. right, claim, duty. വകമേല്‍ ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ തു ന്പില്ല TR. has no right to the estate. അന്‍പ ററാല്‍ തുന്‍പററു prov.; അവനോടു തു. അറുത്ത് എടുത്ത (or വാങ്ങിയ) പ്രമാണം TR. (see തുന്പു മുറി). തുന്പുകെട്ടു നടന്നു led an unprincipled life. Hence: തുന്പറുക്ക to break off a connexion. തുന്പില്ലാതേ പറക to speak, what is groundless, useless, driftless; to babble. തുന്പില്ലാത്തവന്‍ (2) an ignorant; a booby. തുന്പുമുറി (3) a certificate given by a proprietor to the holder of his land, that he has sold his right to another; also a writ of the tenant transferring his occupancy to another, W. രാമനു സമ്മതിച്ചു കൊടുത്തതു.
