dāham S. 1. Burning കാനനദാഹം Bhr. = ദഹനം; also med. ദാഹം = ചൂടു Asht. 2. thirst, ardent desire = തൃഷ്ണ. With ഒഴിക്ക, തീര്‍ക്ക, കെടുക്ക to quench thirst; with 2 Dat. തണ്ണീര്‍ക്കു ദാ. പെരുതുഞാക്കു TP.; ദാഹം കെടാ ഞ്ഞൊരു കണ്ണിണ CG. eyes which could not be satisfied. ദാഹശാന്ത്യര്‍ത്ഥം VetC. denV. ദാഹിക്ക to thirst, തണ്ണീര്‍ക്കു ദാ. AR. — ദാ ഹിച്ചവെള്ളം തരുമോ TP. water for my thirst. ദാ. കൊടുക്കാത്തവന്‍ M. = ദുഷ്ടന്‍.

dābanam S. (V. C. of ദാ) causing to give, demanding payment.

dvaidham S. (ദ്വിധാ) Duality. ദ്വൈധീഭാവം 1. duplicity, ambiguity. 2. indifference, neutrality (vu. ദ്വൈതികഭാവം). ദ്വൈ'വും തിരയേണം Bhr. a king must learn to appear unconcerned, impartial.

druδam S. (part. of ദ്രു) 1. Hastening. 2. melted, liquid. 3. adv. quickly സന്താപ ദ്രുതം CC.; also ദ്രുതത്തില്‍ മരിച്ചീടും KR.

danu S., N. pr. The mother of the Asuras, who are therefore ദനുജന്മാര്‍ Bhr.

dugdham S. (part. of ദുഹ്) Milked; milk ദു'മാകിലുംകൈക്കുംദുഷ്ടര്‍നല്കിയാല്‍ Bhr. ദുഗ്ധാബ്ധി AR. = പാല്‍കടല്‍.

dōlam S. (ദുല്‍) A swing, swinging, & ദോളം, ഡോളം.

dašam S. (L. decem). Ten. ഒന്നും ദശയു മായി (sic) കോടി Sk. = ഏകാദശകോടി (or ദ ശവും). ദശകന്ധരന്‍ VCh. ten-necked = ദശഗ്രീ വന്‍, ദശമുഖന്‍, ദശവദനന്‍, ദശാസ്യന്‍ AR. Rāvaṇa. ദശമി the tenth lunar day. ദശമൂലം see മൂലം. ദശരഥന്‍ Rāman's father, (king of Ayōdhya). ദശാംശം a tenth, tithe. ദശായിരം Sk. = ദശസഹസ്രം 10,000. ദശാവതാരം the 10 Avatāras.
