pēḍa T. M. (fr. പെട q. v., Te. pēḍe beardless face). The female of a deer, turtle; a pea-hen etc. മൃഗപ്പേടയെക്കണ്ടു Nal. കുയില്‍ പേടച്ചൊല്‍ CG. പേടമാന്‍ doe.— പേ. തടങ്കണ്ണാള്‍ RC. പേ. ക ണ്ണിമാര്‍ Nal. — യാള്‍ VetC.

Bhr.; പഴുത്ത പഴം ripe fruit, കുല പഴുക്കുന്പോള്‍ സങ്ക്രാന്തി, പഴു ക്കാന്‍ മൂത്താല്‍ പറിക്ക prov.; പ. വെക്ക to put fruits in straw (= പഴുപ്പിക്ക). 2. to become well tempered, red-hot. പ. ച്ചുടുക to roast well, എരിയുന്ന തീയില്‍ പഴുത്ത നാരാചം KR. 3. to suppurate പുണ്‍ പഴുക്കില്‍ MM. 4. to decay. പഴുത്തില a dried leaf, ദേഹം പഴു ത്തു പോയീടും KR. = പഴകി. പഴുത്തില hon. for betel, when Nāyars speak to Brahmans, Tīyars to Nāyars, etc. (see 4). VN. പഴുപ്പു 1. ripening of fruit, blighting of corn. പ. ചെന്നതു V2. overripe. 2. becoming tender, red-hot. മുഖം പ. thrush (S. മു ഖ പാകം). മനസ്സിന്‍റെ പ. V1. contrition. CV. പഴുപ്പിക്ക 1. to ripen artificially as പഴം, to heat as ഇരിന്പു, to accustom, inure. 2. മുഖം പഴുപ്പിക്ക No. actors personating women having their faces dyed with red arsenic (see മനയോല under മനം). പഴുപഴുക്ക to be discoloured; പ'പ്പു yellowness of face V1. pušyam S. (cream fr. പുഷ് as of Amrita, Ved.) = പൂയം f. i. നാള ഉരു പുഷ്യം KR. പുഷ്യ നക്ഷത്രം AR. പുഷ്യരാഗം, see പുഷ്പരാഗം.

poḷḷa (fr. പൊളളു). 1. A tube; pipe. പൊ. വള a hollow bracelet, (opp. കട്ടിവള). പൊളളയോ കട്ടിയോ? prov. 2. the throat അവന്‍റെ പൊ. എല്ലില്‍ പിടിച്ചമര്‍ത്തു (jud. Palg.). 3. perforated, empty; a bamboo മര ങ്ങള്‍ കേടും പൊളളയും ഊനവും ഇല്ലാതേ ഇരി ക്കേണം doc. (C. puḷuku hole in trees). ചുമര്‍ പൊ. യായ്തീര്‍ന്നു (thro' white-ants). 4. blister, bubble = പോള. piḷḷa T. C. Te. M. (Tu. puḷḷi, grandson, Te. pin young, T. പീള്‍ foetus). 1. A child, infant പിള്ളവരുത്തം prov. (= ൦രംററു നോവു). പി.എടുക്കുന്നവള്‍ V1. a midwife. പിള്ളപ്പണി തപ്പണി prov. പെണ്ണും പിള്ളയും ആനന്ദിപ്പി ക്ക KU. Rāja to Nāyars for 2500 new fanams (the family receiving then a Diploma of nobility on a copper plate in power of which the offspring of its females enjoy certain privileges f.i. at marriages & exemption from customary labour (socage-duty). 3. the young of animals, small fruit; B. the pestle; അമ്മി പ്പിള്ള etc. 4. the Becond term in the rule of three, being of the same kind as x. (see ത ള്ള) CS. പിള്ളക്കര B. (3) a smaller stripe in cloth. പിള്ളക്കിണറു (3) a smaller well sunk within a larger one. പിള്ളക്കോല്‍ (3) sticks hanging from the പാ ലം of weavers. പിള്ളതിന്നി (1) attribute of a f.
