pāppini (പാപ്പാന്‍) A caste of lower Brahmans, who purify Nāyars whilst their women sing at Nāyar marriages etc. (71 in Taḷipar̀ambu). പാപ്പുക്കോയില്‍ N. pr. = പറപ്പൂര്‍സ്വരൂപം (old).

piḷukkuγa (T. പിള്ളുക = വിള്ളുക to split). To open (the lips) കോമഴച്ചുണ്ടു പി ളുക്കി നിന്നീടുന്ന ഓമനപ്പൈതല്‍ CG. an infant longing for the breast (or press? പിതുക്കുക).

pāγuγa (T. പാവുക, C. Tu. hāku). 1. To lay things regularly on the ground, പാകിയ നൂല്‍ yarn warped; to lay a ceiling, to board അട്ടം പാകുക, പലക പാവിയ പുര; to build a ship തേക്കു കൊണ്ട് അടിപായി TP. 2. to fix in the ground regularly തേങ്ങാ പാ കുന്ന സ്ഥലം a nursery of palm-plants; ഞാറു പാകി നടുക to sow thickly for transplantation, so അടക്ക, പിലാക്കുരു, കാപ്പിക്കുരു, മുളകു etc. 3. v. n. to be fixed. വേര്‍ പാകി നില്ക്ക CG. to be well rooted. മേഘങ്ങള്‍ പാകിനിന്നു CG. in the sky. പാകും ഒണ്‍കിരണങ്ങള്‍ RC. rays of the sun (dense? fixed?). ഞരന്പു പാകീട്ടൊ ട്ടേറ ഛര്‍ദ്ദിക്ക Nid. prominent veins? pāḻ T. M. Tu. C. (Te. pālu fr. പഴുതു) 1. An empty place, void കാററിന്നു ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ പാഴ് ഏതും കൂടാതേ CG.; പാഴററ രോമാളി uninterrupted. 2. desolation, waste പാഴാക്കുക. 3. vain, പാഴിലാക്ക to render useless. പിന്നേ പ്പാഴില്‍ തോല്ക്കല്ല prov. (= പഴുതേ) — adv. also പാഴേ. പാഴന്‍, m., പാഴി f. 1. one good for nothing, wicked, a scamp ധൃഷ്ടയായ്നിന്നുള്ള പാഴി CG. ശൂര്‍പ്പണഖയാം പാഴിയെ Bhr. 2. adj. പാഴന്‍പറന്പായി കിടന്നു പോയാല്‍ TR. left uncultivated. പാഴമ roguery പാ. ഏറും ഇപ്പൈതല്‍, പാഴ നാം ഇന്നിവന്‍ പാ'മെക്കാവതില്ലേതും CG. how stand against the tricks of this rogue. പാഴാപാടു No. (2) desolated state. പാഴാപാടിച്ചി No. a distressed & friendless woman. പാഴിയാരം (പാഴി T. expanse) So. a beggar's, flatterer's, parasite's song or talk; rubbish. പാഴിടി mighty thunder പാ. പൂണമക്കാര്‍മു കില്‍ CG. — പാഴുരല്‍ കമിഴ്ത്തി CG. a big mortar. — പാഴ്ക്കുറുക്കന്‍ CG. etc. പാഴ്ച്ചെലവു useless expenditure. പാഴ്നിലം waste, untilled ground, also പാഴ് ഭൂമി = വെണ്‍നിലം, തരിശു. പാഴ്പണി, പാഴ്വേല useless work. പാഴ്പനി CG. bad fever. പാഴ്പറന്പു a bleak hill പാ. ഏറി നടക്കുന്പോ ലേ CG. പാഴ്പെടുക to be deserted പാ'ട്ടു പോയൊരു ശയ്യ CG. പാഴ്മരം a jungle-tree, common timber പാ'മാ യ്പോക നിങ്ങള്‍ CC. (a curse). പാഴ്മഴത്തൂകിത്തുടങ്ങി CG. heavy rain. പാഴ്വാക്ക് useless talk, പാഴ്വെടി etc.

piččhilam S. (പിഛ്ശ gruel) Slimy, smeary, a kind of touch (സ്പര്‍ശം).

pinasam S. A cold, catarrh മൂക്കൊ ഴുക്കു (പീ 2?); ozena പീ'രോഗം med. പീനാറി, see പീ. പീപ്പ Port. pipa, A cask, also പീപ്പക്കുററി. പീയൂഷം S. (പീനം). pūṇuγa T. M. C. (Te. pūḍu, see പു ണര്‍). 1. v. n. To be closed ചങ്ങല പൂണ്ടുള്ള വാതില്‍ CG.; to be yoked, put to തേരില്‍ പൂ ണ്ട അശ്വം Nal. 2. v. a. to embrace മാറോ ടു ചേര്‍ത്തു പൂണ്ടു CG. കണ്ണുകള്‍ ചിമ്മിപ്പൂണ്ടാള്‍ Bhr. പൂമൈ പൂണുക Si Pu. അവളെ പൂ. puǹǰa (T. പുന്‍ചെയ് a sterile field, Te. C. puǹǰi). 1. Dry crop വേലി തന്നേ വിതെച്ച പുഞ്ചെക്കുവിനാശമൂലം CC. prov. [പുഞ്ചധാന്യം dry, opp. നഞ്ചധാന്യം wet cultivation, Palg. exh. Rev., T.] 2. a crop sown in Nov., reaped in Apr. B. പുഞ്ചനിലം, പു'പ്പാടം wet land, പു. കൃ ഷി. 3. a rice of early growth പു. വിള ന ടക്കുന്നു MR. planted in Kumbha, reaped in Mithuna or Karkaḍa. പുഞ്ചക്കണ്ടം field under irrigation, yielding even 3 harvests. പുഞ്ചയടക്ക an early, first nut.
