paṇam 5. S. (√ പണ്‍ to exchange, buy, bet) 1. pēna (Gond. penk fr. പേ? penates V1.) 1. A ghost, spirit അമ്മ മരിച്ചു പേനയായി കൂ ടി TP. പേന കൂടി the cause of children's illness f. i. കൊതിപ്പേന കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു said of infants that wish for every thing. The malady is cured by an offering in the chamber of the ancestors പേനെക്കു കൊടുക്ക. 2. a miser of the worst description.

pāṭham S. (പഠിക്ക) 1. Reciting, reading; വേദപാ. = വാക്യം a text. 2. a lesson ഗര്‍ഗ്ഗ നോടഷ്ടവിദ്യകള്‍ പാ. ചെയ്തു Brhmd. learned with. ദിവ്യാസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ പാ. ചെയ്തു, ശാസ്ത്രാദികള്‍ പാ. ചെയ്തുറച്ചിതു Bhr. പാ. ചൊല്ക to rehearse, പാ. ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുക്ക to deliver (= പാ. കേ ള്‍പിക്ക), പാ. കേള്‍ക്ക to examine, പാ. കാണാ തേ ചൊല്ക to know by heart. 3. acquirement, knowledge പുരാണങ്ങള്‍ ഭവാനൊക്കവേ പാ'മല്ലോ Bhg. you know them all by heart. കഥ നിനക്കുള്‍ക്കാണ്‍പില്‍ പാ. എങ്കില്‍ Bhr. എ ന്നു മൂഢന്മാര്‍ക്ക് എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും പാ'മല്ലോ CG. they are ready with their opinion. പാഠകന്‍ S. a lecturer, doctor, teacher പാ'ന്മാ ര്‍രുടെ ചാരുവാക്യങ്ങളും Nal.; also പാഠക ക്കാരന്‍. പാഠകം S. a lecture; the part in a play. പാഠക ക്കൈ attitude in lecturing or acting. പാഠമാക്ക (= പാ. ചെയ്ക) to learn, acquire a habit. പാഠവം erudition പാ'മേറേയുളളവംഗദേശാ ധിപതി Mud l. — or പാടവം? പാഠവപ്പറച്ചല്‍ No., — ക — So. a discourse delivered by a šlaghyār in a temple on any passage from the Shāstras. പാഠശാല a college, school.

paγa 5. (പകുക) 1. Separation, enmity. ഉള്‍പ്പക grudge, കുടിപ്പക; പക വെക്ക to bear hatred. പക വീളുക, പോക്കുക to revenge. ക ണ്ണിന്നു പക = കാണരായ്ക. 2. incompatibility, f. i. തണ്ണീര്‍പക med. Hence: പകപ്പിഴ V1. disagreeing element; a term of abuse for Nasrāṇis. പകയന്‍ an enemy പകയര്‍കുലം Bhr.; also
