pūṇuγa T. M. C. (Te. pūḍu, see പു ണര്‍). 1. v. n. paṭṭiṇi (T. — നി) Privation of food (പട്ടിണിപ്പാടു). പ. കിടക്ക to starve, go to sleep without a meal. ചൊക്കനെ പ. കിടത്ത രുതു TP. the dog must not be starved. ഒരു പ. കഴിക്ക to fast one day. മൂന്നേത്തേപ്പ. കിടന്നു TP. 3 days. പ. കരകയും SiPu. a starving child. പ. ഇടുക, വെക്ക to abstain from food as one day after a death; to dun by abstaining. ഞ ങ്ങളെ അറയിലാക്കി ൨ ദിവസം പ. യിട്ടു തച്ചു ഹേമിച്ചു TR. left without food. നീ പട്ടിണിയി ട്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചീലയോ Mud.; പ. കൊണ്ടു പടക്കൂട്ട ങ്ങള്‍ തളരും VCh.; ഒട്ടകം കൊണ്ടു പ. തീര്‍ക്ക PT. to breakfast on the camel. പ. കളവാന്‍ VCh. പട്ടിണിനന്പി a Brahman who duns by sitting on his umbrella before a debtor's house, starving himself & those within. puδam (loc. = കുതം) No. Suitable ശരിപു തം TP. ചോറും കറിയും പു. പോരാഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടി ല്ലas it did not suit him. നിണക്ക് എന്നേ പു.

piǹ 5.(C Te. also T. Te. വെന്‍, C. ben; Te. pin, young). 1. The back-side (opp. മുന്‍). 2. behind, after പിന്നുണ്ടോ ജീവിക്കുന്നു KR. (= പിന്നേ). — The Instr. with local meaning നിന്നുടെ പിന്നാലേ കൂടേ നടക്കാം, കാലി കള്‍ പിന്നാലേ വരും CG. മണ്ടുവിന്‍ പിന്നാലേ pursue. പെണ്ണുങ്ങടെ പിന്നാലേ പോയി Anj.; also temporal എന്നതിന്‍റെ പിന്നാലേ TR. — The Loc. local അവരുടെ പിന്നില്‍ ഒളിച്ചു കൊള്‍, പി. നോക്കാതേ Bhr. behind. സുഗ്രീവ നെ പിന്നിലിട്ടു അഗ്രേ തടുത്താന്‍ നികുംഭനെ AR. ran before, So. 3. adj. other പിന്നോ രിടത്തു to another place. പ്രവൃത്തി പിന്നൊരു ത്തര്‍ക്കു കൊടുപ്പാന്‍ TR.

pūnduγa So. (fr. പൂഴു). To sink in the ground, വിശിഖം പൂന്തി ChS. പൂത്തു, കുഴിപ്പൂത്തു So. a grave. v. a. പൂത്തുക (പൂഴ്ത്തുക) 1. to press into ചവിട്ടിച്ചളി യില്‍ പൂത്തും MR. (a threat). മുട്ട എഴു തി നെല്ലില്‍ പൂ a kind of charm; suspected persons must take a certain egg out of a heap of rice, when the thief will be detected. ചക്രം എഴുതി ധനുമ്മേല്‍ പൂത്തേക്ക Mantr. തീയില്‍കൊണ്ട കായി പൂത്തി (to cook it). 2. to bury ശവം എത്ര ആഴം കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു പൂ ത്തിയതു jud. — also met. നേരിനേ പൂത്തു, ക ളവു പൂത്തു (vu. — ത്തി) പറഞ്ഞു = മറെച്ചു. (പൂ:) പൂന്തുകില്‍ a fine flowered cloth മഞ്ഞപ്പൂ' ലും Bhr. (of K/?/šṇa's), Pay. പൂന്തുറ N. pr. the original abode of the ancestors of Tāmūri (ഏറാടിമാര്‍), who thence is called കോഴിക്കോട്ടു പൂന്തുറക്കോന്‍ KU. പൂന്തേങ്ങ B. the bulbous root of lotus.

pōkkaṇam T. So.
