puram S. (= പൂര്‍, പുര). 1. A fort, town. 2. a house (അന്ത:പുരം). പരദ്വാരം S. city-gate KR. പുരദ്വിട്ട് S. (ദ്വിഷ്) the city destroyer, Siva. പു'ട്ടിനെ സംഭാവിച്ചു Bhg.; also പുരമഥ നന്‍, പുരഭിത്തു, പുരരിപു. പുരന്ദരന്‍ S. the fort-breaker, Indra. Bhr. പുരപ്രീതി S. popularity. അവന്‍റെ പു. ഘോ ഷിച്ചു കഴിപ്പിച്ചു Mud. a feast designed to gain popularity. പുരസ്ഥന്‍ S. an inhabitant KR. & പുരവാസി. പുരട്ടാതി T. So. = പൂരുട്ടാതി the month Sept. ഇ പ്പിരട്ടാതി മാസത്തില്‍ KR. (ഇതു ചിങ്ങമാസം).

pratha S. (പൃഥ് to spread; broad). Fame. പ്രഥനം unfolding പ്രഥനചതുരത Bhr. (in war). part. pass. പ്രഥിതം spread, renowned.

pakkaṇam S. Hut of a jungle-dweller VilvP., കാട്ടാളന്‍ തന്നുടെ പ'ത്തില് ചെന്നു‍ CG. = പുലച്ചാള V2., (fr. പക്കല്‍ refuge T.)

peyyuγa T. M. (Te. C. poyyu). l.To pour, rain. v. n. മഴ പെയ്തു. പെയ്യാപ്പുര a roof put on boats, also a temporary shed against rain = So. ചോരാപ്പന്തല്‍ — met. പെയ്തിതു സ ന്തോഷം കൊണ്ട് അശ്രുക്കള്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കു AR. സന്തോഷം പെയ്യുന്നു മാനസത്തില്‍ CG. പ്രജക ള്‍ക്കു പെയ്ത് ഓരാനന്ദം നിറയുന്നു Mud. 2. v. a. ദേവകള്‍പെയ്യുന്നപൂമഴ, ബാണഗണംഅവന്‍ പെയ്തു Bhr. തേന്‍ പെയ്ത താമരപ്പൂ, വാരിയെ പെയ്യുന്ന വാരിദങ്ങള്‍ CG. കിരണങ്ങള്‍പെയ്യും വയ്യവന്‍. punnāram (പുന്‍ = പുതു?) or പൊ ന്നാരം Caressing, flattery. വാക്കിന്‍റെ പു. V1. the charm of his words. പുന്നാരിക്ക = ഓമനിക്ക, കൊഞ്ചുക V2. പുന്നാരക്കാരന്‍ a flatterer. പുന്നെല്‍ (= പുതുനെല്‍) or പുല്‍നെല്‍ new rice. പുന്നെലരിയും ചെറു താലിയും Palg. I/?/avars (a Tāli, present of money, 71/2 measures rice, betel & cloth taken to the bride's house). പുന്നെലവിലും വരട്ടുതേങ്ങയും (song — for Nivēdya to Gaṇapati). പുന്നെല്‍കൂഴം = കൂഴ ത്തരി of പുന്നെല്‍. — ചെറുകല്‍ പു a kind of rice (S. മാതുലാനി). പുന്മ (T = പുല്മ fr. പുല്‍ littleness) = പുതുമ in പുഞ്ചിരിപ്പുന്മ Anj. പുന്മൂട = പുല്‍മൂട.
