mēttaǹ B. A class of Muhammedans. മേത്തല്‍ (loc.) = മീത്തല്‍, also കുടയുടെ മേത്തു ചോരയുള്ളതു നോക്കി jud. Mpl. — മേത്തോട്ടു upwards. (മേല്‍): മേത്തട്ടു ceiling, upper story. മേത്തരം the best sort, superior നീതിക്കെല്ലാം മേററരമാനനിശാചരന്‍ RC. മേത്തലവായു Palg. sore eyes with head-ache (corr. fr. നേത്രവായു). മേത്താവി Tdbh. = മേധാവി. മേത്തോന്നി Gloriosa or Methonica superba, with poisonous root used by women (മേ' യും കിണറും ഉണ്ടു) for suicide. മേത്രാന്‍, see മെത്രാന്‍.

mayaǹ 1. S. (മാ). The artificer of the Asuras. 2. M. a trickster, juggler = മായന്‍ in മാമയന്‍ etc.

mantham S. (മഥ്). 1. Churning; a preparation of തരിപ്പണം GP. 2. a churn-staff, Tdbh. മന്തു. മന്ഥനം S. churning, euphem, coitus ഗോവി ന്ദനായി മേവുന്ന മന്ഥനം കൊണ്ടു — രുഗ്മി ണിയായൊരു പാല്ക്കടലില്‍ CG. was Pradyumna begotten & മന്തന ചെയ്തു RC.

mańǰari S. 1. A pearl (G. margarita). 2. a nosegay, flower-bunch പൂന്തൊത്തു 3. name of a poem.

muḷi T. M. 1. Scorched or dry. 2. the appearance of skin scalded and burst. മു. യുള്ള തല scabby. മു. വീണുപോക in leprosy. മുളിക്കണ്ടം rice-ground not tilled, covered with grass; opp. മുളി നീക്കിയതു i.e. മുളിക്കണ്ട. മുളിത്തൊലി (T. മുളരി firewood). Mimosa Sami, the sacrificial wood ശമി S. മുളിയില (1) a dry plantain leaf. മുളിയുക 1. to be scorched, torn as skin. മേല്‍ മു. 2. = മുടിയുക 3. (loc). മുളിയോല (1) No. a dried cocoanut leaf that cannot be plaited, കണ്ണന്‍ കുത്തി ഓല So.

maṭham S. (see മടം, മട). 1. A Brahman college, Sanyāsi cloister (64 of which Parašu R. established in the 64 Gramās. KM.), also മഠപ്പാടു Anach. സന്ധ്യയും ചെയ്തു ജപിച്ചീടു വാന്‍ ഒരു മഠം KR. ആണ്‍മഠം a monastery, കന്യക —, പെണ്‍മഠം a nunnery (mod.) 2. the house of a Brahman, esp. Paṭṭar വേണ്ടപ്രകാ രം മ. കെട്ടി ഇരുന്നോളുവാന്‍ TR. — മഠപ്പുര see മടപ്പുര.

mūruγa T. M. Tu. (T. C. മുരി = മുറി q. v.). 1.
