višu S. (ദ്വിഷു? G. 'isos). 1. Equipoised 2. equinox, chiefly the feast of vernal equinox (see ഓണം). മേഷസങ്ക്രാന്തി വിഷുപുണ്യകാ ലം, തുലാസങ്ക്രാന്തിവിഷുവല്‍പുണ്യകാലം TrP. 1st of Mēḍam = 10th April. വിഷുവില്‍ പിന്നേ വേനല്‍ ഇല്ല prov. ഓണവും വിഷുവും വരാതേ പോകട്ടേ old prov. (Tīyars, on account of കു ടിയിരിപ്പു). വിഷുക്കണി the first thing seen on Višu, ominous for the whole year, hence വിഷു ക്കൈനീട്ടം, presents, annual fees (from കു ടുമനീര്‍ etc.) are given on that morning; even temporary houses are erected by the combined efforts of several families & filled with costly & auspicious objects (കണിപ്പു ര). വി. കാണ്ക. വിഷുഫലം result of comparing the nativity with the equinox, f. i. ൦രം കൊല്ലത്തേ വി. വേണ്ടില്ല, കാര്യമല്ല (നന്നല്ല) augurs bad harvest, sickness, etc. vu. വിഷുവല്‍ = വിഷു q. v., രാപ്പകല്‍ ഒത്തസമയം. വിഷൂചിക S.
