vasūri, (മ — S.) Small-pox of many kinds: ആനച്ചിറിയന്‍, അമരി, കല്ലമരി, മുതിര പ്പരപ്പന്‍, എഴുത്താണിക്കുത്തന്‍, കണ്കുഴിയന്‍, ആനയടിയന്‍, കൊത്തന്പാലരി മണിയന്‍ (778), ചക്കമുളളന്‍ etc.; വസൂരിചപ്പുക 346. = അമരുക. വ. മുറിച്ചുവെക്ക, കീറിവെക്ക, കുത്തുക to vaccinate, as കുരുപ്പു (mod.).

vēṇam (fr. വേണും q. v.) def. V. It must, ought, is desired. With Inf. പറയായ്ക വേ. vaḷḷuvaǹ T. M. (വള്ളല്‍?). 1. A priest of the Par̀ayas; a low caste sageവള്ളു വച്ചാത്തന്‍, വള്ളോന്‍ who wrote the വള്ളുവ ച്ചിന്തു. 2. a caste of slaves, ranking above the വേട്ടുവര്‍, famous for the beauty of their women (വള്ളുവത്തി), never seized by alligators (prov.), occupied with കൂലിപ്പണി, മന്ത്രവാദം, fishing & ferrying. വള്ളുവനാടു N. pr. a district, originally ruled by വള്ളുവക്കോനാതിരി of the ആര്‍ങ്ങോട്ടൂര്‍ dynasty (വള്ളുവക്കോയില്പാടു), who had received Chēramān's shield, the charge of the Mahāmakham & 10000 Nāyars, but was dispossessed by Caliout. viḍuγa T. M. (C. biḍu, Te. വി. & ഊ., Tu. budu). 1. v. n.
