vasa S. Fat, bacon (see വപ). വാസകള്‍ മുന്നാഴിയും VCh. in the human body; മാംസം പുഴുങ്ങി ഊററി എടുക്കുന്ന നൈവസ Nid. fat of broth.

vāsaram S. (വസ്). Morning, day ഏകവാ. Bhg. വാസരാധീശന്‍ S. the sun. വാ'ശാന്വയം AR. the solar line. — (അധീശന്‍). വാസവന്‍ S. (വസു). Indra. വാ. മുന്പായ വാ നവര്‍ CG., വാസവാദികള്‍ AR. the Gods.

vaḷḷam T. M. (Tu. C. large corn-measure). 1. A canoe, boat of one trunk, in size between തോണി & മഞ്ചി; വള്ളക്കാരന്‍,— ത്തുടര്‍‍, — പ്പടി, — പ്പലക, — പ്പാട്ടു etc. — വ'ത്തടി B. timber roughly out in shape of a canoe. 2. = വല്ലം, a large bamboo basket holding 200 — 400 പറ of rice. 3. a small measure നരന്തച്ചാറു മൂവ., ഇരിവ. ഉപ്പു a. med. (S. weight of 2 or 3 കുന്നി).

vat/?/t/?/ụ (C. batta, Te. vaḍlu rice fr. വ റു). 1. A grain of boiled rice from which the water is strained off ഒരുവ. പോലും ഉണ്ടായി രുന്നില്ല Arb. വ.ള്ള കഞ്ഞി V1. rice-water with some rice in it. 2. past tense of വല്ക്കുക. വററുക T. M. (Te. vadṭṭu, C. battu, Tu. bačču). 1. To grow dry കോരിയാല്‍ വ'മോ സ മുദ്രം, മൂക്കിലേ വെള്ളം വ. ഇല്ല prov. നീര്‍വ ററ (Inf.) ഉണങ്ങേണം (a പരുവം, f. i. of medicines) dry on the outside, not sufficiently so to be reduced to powder. തൊണ്ട വററിവീ ണു ചത്താന്‍ Mud. (fr. poison). — fig. കൈ വററിപ്പോയി has nothing more to give. 2. to be decocted, evaporated, reduced. 3. a wound to heal ഇതുകൊണ്ടു ചലം വററായ്കില്‍ MM. VN. വററല്‍ 1. drying, evaporation. 2. dried fruits as വ. മുളകു. — നീര്‍വററല്‍ മീന്‍ No. contr. നീരാററല്‍ (a പരുവം in drying). CV. വററിക്ക 1. to dry, lay dry മീന്‍ വ. V1. (salted fish). 2. to drain, evaporate നീര്‍ വ'ച്ചുതേക്ക a. med. വററിച്ച മീന്‍കറി No. a thick kar̀i.

varuδi So. (വരദി C. Tu. news, report fr. H. birad fame?, Ar barāt, order; or വരു ക?). 1. Report. 2. command, proclamation വ പ്രകാരം ജനങ്ങള്‍ കൂടി Trav.

vājaγam S. (വച്). 1. Diction, style or formula കുറിയുടെ വാ., ആധാരവാ. varaṇḍuγa (T. വരന്‍റുക to sweep over the ground). So. To rake grass, weeds, etc hoe it up, harrow. Vl. വരണ്ടി 1. Palg. a rake, വരണ്ടിമരം a rake drawn by cattle. 2. No. a scraper to remove barnacles from the hull of a ship etc. വരത്തു (loc.) = വരുത്തു Coming കപ്പല്‍ വ. പോ ക്കായിരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണം Trav. വരത്തന്‍ (f. — ത്തി), — ത്താളി a stranger, uninvited guest V1.

veḷka T. aM. (& വെക്കം q. v.). To pale, to be ashamed, afraid വെള്‍്ക്കെന്നുപായ്ന്തു RC 81.

vēppụ (obl. case of വേന്പു). The Neem tree, Melia azadirachta, vu. ആര്യവേ. Kinds: കരി — GP 63. (Bergera Kœnigii, also കറി — & കൃഷ്ണനിംബ), കൈ — Sk., നില — Gentiana chirayita, മല — etc. Parts: വേപ്പിങ്കരു Margosa seed. വേപ്പിന്തോല്‍, വേപ്പില (വേപ്പില ക്കട്ടി a kind of കറി), അത്യുഷ്ണമല്ലോ വേപ്പെ ണ്ണ GP. med. febrifuge.
