koṭṭa 1. T. M. C. (Tu. ഗൊട്ടു) Kernel of fruit, chiefly of cocoanut, castor-oil seed. — കൊ ട്ടെണ്ണ castor-oil for burning (loc.) — കൊട്ടത്തേ ങ്ങ a dried cocoanut GP 69. കൊ'ങ്ങ തച്ചുപൊ ളിച്ചു TP. also പച്ചെക്കോ കൊട്ടെക്കോ for a fresh or dried cocoanut? കൊട്ടക്കാ V1. & കൊട്ടടക്ക entire, unboiled Areca-nut. രണ്ടു കൊട്ടടക്ക വെച്ചു KU. (as tribute). കൊട്ടയാടുക to shake as a dry cocoanut (So. to be tormented. കൊട്ടയാട്ടുക to torment B.) 2. (= കൂട) basket, അവര്‍ കൊട്ടയിലും പാള യിലും ആയി children in cradles, etc. kinds: അടിക്കൊട്ട for sweepings, building with mud. കിളി-, ചാലി-, പൂട്ടു- all these of palm leaves, മരക്കൊട്ട bucket in a boat, ചൂരല്‍-, പൂഴി-, വട്ട etc. നെയ്ക, മെട യുക V1. to make baskets. kēḍu 4 (Te. ചേടു) VN. of കെടുക 1. Destruction. കേടു വരുന്നതിന്‍ കാരണം നീ CG. God also the destroyer. 2. loss, damage. കേടു കഴിച്ചുപാട്ടം കെട്ടുക TR. (in assessment) allowing for barren trees. ആയുസ്സിന്നു കേടു prov. കേടുള്ള തോണി MR. കേട്ടുള്ളതു കൊടു ക്ക Anj. In Comp. = ക്ഷയം f. i. ഇഷ്ടക്കേടു, ത ട്ടുകേടു, ബുദ്ധികേടു etc. (vu. even ദൂഷ്യക്കേടു, ഉപദ്രവക്കേടു etc.) 3. hurt, flaw in stones കണ്ണിന്നൊരു കേടു GnP. something wrong about the eye. കേടുകള്‍ പലതുണ്ടു SiPu. sins. കേട്ടാ ച്ചുരുതി കേടില്ലേ TP. what a pity! Hence: കേടന്‍ a rogue, മഹാകേടന്‍ etc. കേടുററ immaculate, നീടുററവന്‍ തന്‍റെ കേ. പാദം CG. കേടുകുററി dead stump of a tree. മുതലില്ലാതേ കണ്ടു കേ'യായി കിടക്കുന്നു TR. hopeless. കേടുതീര്‍ക്ക to repair, mend. കേടുതീര്‍ത്തു ചൊ ല്വന്‍ CG. to speak better, or well. കേ'ര്‍ത്തു പറഞ്ഞു Mud. excused. കേടുപാടു loss, decay, കേ. നോക്കുക V1. to see if all is in order. കേടു പോക്കുക to mend, heal PP. കേടു വരിക to be lost, destroyed. അന്പതോളം വാഴ കേര്‍ന്നു MR. — കേടു വരുത്തുക v. a. to ruin, spoil, വസ്തുമുതല്‍ കേ'ത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു TR. കേട്ടുചോര bad blood; കേ. പോക്കുക, കളക to bleed.
